Airbnb host lied about me. What would you do?

We went to an Airbnb last week. It was a renovated country barn and looked great from the photos - and was £200 a night. I asked the woman who runs the place in advance if the place was safe for people with pet allergies, as I'm allergic to pet fur, and if they had a travel cot we could use. She said they allow pets but she'd do a deep clean for me, and was happy for us to use their cot. I sent a very grateful reply. When we got there, she was pretty blunt and standoff-ish. Most conversation was with her husband, and when I (really politely) asked what was in the cake she kindly made for us on arrival (as I have allergies to a few foods), she looked at me like I was asking why she looks so sh*t! The place was quiet nice, but not the "luxury" experience advertised and not for that price! It was still quite fusty and dusty, and the most inconvenient aspect was that we couldn't control the heating. I messaged her asking for help turning it up, and she said her husband controls it on his phone. We had to (always politely with lots of thanks) text every time it got chilly, which was every evening and early morning. Even after asking if she could keep the heating on constant overnight, our son woke at 2am and his room was 15 degrees (celsius). This really upset us, but we did nothing to feed back or rock the boat. We packed up and left on the last day and did all the usuals (towels in the bath, bins taken out, packed up the cot for them). Despite several issues, we left a 5* review (like suckers) because everyone else had, and it felt like we were missing something?! Anyway, she leaves us a HORRIBLE review, saying we left dirty dishes (we didn't), a messy kitchen (absolutely not, and literally how, all our stuff was out, what could we make a mess with, two teatowels?!) and she said we'd thrown tissues all over the floor. I was just so upset and angry. She has totally lied about us. She also said she "bent over backwards for our requests" so this was "very disappointing". She literally offered a deep clean (which we saw minimal evidence of) and had us staying in a cold house! One morning we literally opened the oven door to stay warm. We think she's either pissed she had to spend money on heating, or she doesn't like having to do anything extra for her passive income. We're stuck with a bad Airbnb review for us, and no way to leave a truthful review. I'm worried if I get the message to her another way or on another platform she'll just keep lying to discredit us. What would you do?!

Can you go back and leave her a 1 start review on the AirB&B app? If she asks to have it removed then say you will if she takes down the untrue bad review she left you all

I'd reach out to air bnb, sounds like she expected you to leave a bad review and did the same to cover her ass.

I’d reach out to Airbnb, explain the situation, and get a refund. My husband and I have not had great experiences with the airbnbs we booked (nothing as bad as yours though!). We finally just started booking with hotels. We have a couple that we use and gain loyalty points with. They’re clean, look like the photos, we can control the temp of the room, and most of the time there’s a free breakfast included.

Oh no that sounds terrible! We stayed in an Airbnb for a month. When we saw that the pantry door was broken on day 1, we took a pic just in case. We had a few incidents, (we were given the basement) and a garbage bin kept outside the door had toppled over and there were maggots crawling near our stairs. The host apologised but we ended up doing all the cleaning. Whenever I used the microwave, the fuse would trip and we lost electricity and had to pull the lever every single time. This is just a tip of the iceberg! Fast forward-The last day, we cleaned the place and it was spotless. For some reason, we took photos of every single thing! The host contacted us to give a 5 star rating. We didnt feel like giving it. Few days later we get a mail frm Airbnb that they are charging us 500$ on our credit card on their file (u cannot remove the card or dispute it cs its legally binding) for professional sofa cleaning, broken pantry door, stained towel etc etc. We sent screenshots of the pics

And the screenshots show the date and time reason y airbnb thought we weren’t at fault and that the host was a big liar. Sorry for hogging ur space but just a warning to everyone using airbnb about fraudulent hosts.

Definitely reach out to Airbnb. I’d be furious.

Why did you leave the five star?? She wrote a bad review as she assumed you going to write a bad review ..
