How much is “normal/okay” when weaning?

My baby is 8 months old and is breastfeed on demand, having 2 meals a day - breakfast and dinner. Around lunch time I have started introducing a snack for example yogurt/fruits/melty biscuit. I know food before 1 is just for fun but I just wanted an idea of how much a baby this age should be consuming when weaning? My LO is not interested in food at all, I am lucky if he has a few spoons of his food.

My little boy is exactly the same, he will have porridge, corn on the cob and steamed broccoli and carrot - other than that he is not interested! So different to my first who was into blw straight away! My little one is crawling and walking when holding our hands, clearly he is developing so I’m just going to take a deep breath follow his lead and go at his pace. Hope this helps, I was having the same doubts x

I feel guilty as I haven’t really figured out what he really likes? He seems to be okay with kiwis, bananas, pancakes and grilled chicken but doesn’t seem to like much else and sometimes when he has seemed to like something, he does not like it when offered another day. I thought this stage was fun but I’m finding it’s making me so anxious as I feel he’s lost weight too :(

Sounds like you’re giving a lot of new foods to try and that’s amazing! I think that each baby is different and goes at their own pace, I’m just going to keep offering. If you are worried about weight loss can you try your health visitor? In my area we have baby clinics where they can weigh your little one and then you could maybe feel more confident?

I think they say it can take up to 20 goes of a certain food to really know what a baby thinks of it. And I guess they're like us- sometimes we really fancy certain foods but other times it's just not right. Except they can't tell us what they fancy on a certain day!

I would just go based on how your bub is feeling for the day. As they’re still drinking milk, it doesn’t matter too much how much they’re consuming unless they’re on weight monitoring
