Awful neighbour

So the 2 back fences between me and the neighbour got blown out 2 years ago by a windy storm. Since the support are broken and unstable, I've spoken about us both putting on money to buy new fencing (I'm on my own with a 5 Yr old so I didn't expect them to pay for it I asked for them to help pay for our fencing) so they made the problem worse by getting a dog and letting it use my back garden as a toilet. I bought to fish net fencing to stop it. Today they've set the only fence between us on fire by smoking and stubbing the fag out on the fencing and leaving them on the fence. When I saw her in the kitchen she ignored me first knock, my 2nd knock she turned off the lights and at some point she's snuck off upstairs and woke the baby up so she "had to deal with the baby and avoid me" I have no idea what my next step us to solve this issue between us. I'm a council tenant who won't fix the fence and they're private and thing that legally the fence is my problem. I wouldn't mind doing it on my own but they're making my trouble much worse with the dog and the fire. I just don't see why I should bother getting it sorted since the little cretins just don't care or respect my privacy

Can you reach out to the council and tell them that your neighbours have a dog that is toileting in your garden where your child plays? Can you express your worry about the dog mess and the dog being around your child. I'm sure the council have a responsibility to repair that fence, I would push for them to do this.

Can you go after her for damages?

If someone had a unleashed/ unfenced dog pooping in my yard if probably call animal control at some point. How many times will they want to pick their dog up from the pound before they do something?

I’d call your local dog warden and report that their dog is trespassing on your property and using it as a toilet. I would express concern for your child as their dog appears untrained. I’d also keep harassing the council as they need to work it out with the letting agents that are responsible for your neighbours tenancy. Explain to them that you have concern regarding their untrained dog and your child having access to the garden. Tell them that you’ve reported this to the dog warden. And that your neighbour set the fence on fire. I would also pop into your local fire station and ask for guidance regarding your neighbour setting the fence on fire. If you have any proof that they set the fence on fire, I’d report it to the police for arson (non emergency) and give this crime report number to the council. If the fence is the councils property then they can file for damages. If it’s not, then the letting agents can file for damages.

@Tiffany it doesn’t work like that in the UK. We don’t have animal control or a pound. We have a local dog warden but they rarely come out for strays. Also sounds like a back garden which definitely means the dog warden wouldn’t just take the dog as it’s not roaming. They would come and speak with the owner and give them guidance which would help OP with the council complaint

@Donna Woods oh dang, yeah here if there's a dog roaming or on your property a call to dispatch will get them picked up in 10 minutes flat. But it's illegal to booby trap your yard lol or I'd put sticky rat paper all over the yard. Then all you can do if file complaints and fling the poop back in their yard
