Baby led weaning

My baby girl is going to start solids soon… any tips? Do I start her on the pouches first to get her use to new textures? What types of foods do I start her with? I’m clueless🙃

Take a look at Solid Starts, and if you’re in the U.K. you can get a free weaning chart from Ella’s Kitchen - best to start with single flavours at the beginning and also work through the allergens individually before introducing full meals or pouches x

I did some purées for tasting different veg and fruit but with toast for example I cut them into strips so my little boy could pick it up and chew on it xx

I started off with baby porridge xx

I did a different veg each day for two weeks to see if my son was allergic to anything!

I did purees, then lumpy mashed foods and then whole foods. I did use some pouches but I bought a hand blender to make them

I focused on the common allergens first as that's kind of the most important thing at this age. You want early and regular introductions of them. You also want to do the allergens first thing in the morning so you can monitor baby all day. Additionally if baby is breastfed then you want to focus on high iron foods. I also use the solid starts app and its insanely helpful! Wouldn't recommend pouches as a lot of them have additives and have been found to have mold in them as well. Very easy to make purees yourself and toss them in the freezer to pull out for later. We also just make food that baby can try holding herself like strips of steak or broccoli or chicken. Good luck! Its messy but fun!
