I’m with Homerton and I’ve been assigned a midwife since all my 3 pregnancies. I’ve also got her number and I contact her whenever I need help
Designed midwife. This is NEWS! What happens when the baby decides to come and the midwife is on annual leave?
I am with whipps, but my midwife appointments from 16-weeks onwards have been at South Woodford health centre (local to me), and I see 1 of 2 midwives there. I only go into whipps for scans, blood tests and eventually to have the baby
I am diabetic so being looked after by the diabetic midwives and it's a team but I've mostly seen different people each time. I also asked whether one of them would be with me for the birth and was told it wouldn't be one of them most likely so I think the people who get designated midwives are the minority!
I am in Havering and see the same midwife each time, I also have her contact number if I have any questions outside of our appointments! But I know she’s not gonna be my midwife when I go into labour Xx
@Michelle the midwife they assigned to us at antenatal is different from the labour midwife
When I lived in London I didn’t have a designated midwife. Saw a different person every time. I live in Suffolk and I have one. Think it depends on where you live!
@Megan me too! At Whipps and my midwife appts have been at South Woodford. So far it's been the same midwife for both my appts
Think it depends where you live where I am you get given a team and it’s whoever is on in that team you see for appointments etc at doctors/clinic then at hospital it’s anyone no one from the teams
