My 5 year old claims his 11 year old cousin gave him & my 3 year old popcorn last time they were all at their grandparents’ house. I know she didn’t know any better, but I still don’t want my kids having popcorn just yet…even with my son being 5. Maybe I’m just paranoid lol.
Nooooo popcorn. Not until they’re 5+ years
I'm not a big fan of popcorn myself & hate it when I get bits of it stuck in between my teeth, so I'm happy to not let my little boy try it for as long as possible.
I have accidentally, before I knew it was a choking hazard 😬
I won't be giving my baby girl pop corn until she's probably 4ish. My friend was driving home one day from day care and was giving her 2 boys popcorn in the back seat. The boys were 4 and 2 I believe at the time. She stopped in the middle of the i75 in Dallas traffic bcz her 2 yo started choking on the popcorn. There was a nurse that stopped also and she helped. Ambulance and everything came... in the middle of the i75 in Dallas😳😱 Tbh, when my older children were younger I didn't know popcorn was a thing so I'm sure I gave them popcorn, but nothing ever happened. But I'm scared of it now.
@Bounette oh dang that’s scary 😨
Nope, it's a choking hazard until well past 5yo. I can't even eat it without choking
My 3 and 5 year old love popcorn. I air pop it no oil or butter for our movie nights.
My daughter only started having popcorn this year and she is 5 and half. I’m still paranoid 😩
I feel its the maturity of your kid. My near 3 year old girl does fine as long as I'm watch her eat it and control the pieces. Now, when my son was 3, i would no way ever give him popcorn. Still wouldn't 😆
she stole a bit from me once but i was really unhappy about it, it's such a hazard. we will be waiting until at least 5 for her to properly eat it!
No, I always give my toddler those puff corn snacks when I make popcorn for myself. I tell her it’s “kids popcorn”.
Oh shoot. My kiddo has popcorn for snack. She’s 2. But only in our presence
5+ minimum. I've known kids to choke on popcorn. 😬 There's literally no reason to take the risk.

I give my 1 yo popcorn but I bite off the sharp pieces
Never thought about it being a choking hazard. Honestly, I thought you were going to say because it makes such a mess 😆. My 3 almost 4 year old eats popcorn all the time. Guess I will watch her more closely next time she eats it.
We waited until 6. Then it was supervised at home during a movie night and he doesn’t have it any other time.
We tell my 3.5 year old he can have it when he’s five lol. He has a whole list of things he can do when he’s 5 😅 I do actually give him other potential choking hazards at home to teach him how to safely eat them though - like nuts, whole grapes or cherry tomatoes, etc. but still cut those foods when i send him to daycare where there are more distractions.
