Contraception advice please!

I’m looking for advice on contraception. I’m three months postpartum and up until a couple of years ago, I was on the microgynon 30 pill for about 17 years. I understand there are increased risks with taking this over the age of 35, which i am just creeping over. My periods are pretty clockwork naturally but I used to like the option of delaying a period if needed for holidays etc (I understand this prob isn’t recommended to double pack rather than take the break but it always worked fine for me). Does anyone have any advice? We’re pretty sure we won’t have another child but need to keep that option open for a few years. Thank you x

I am also 3 months pp but we want a second baby - I was thinking the copper coil myself directly after the second as I found one pill worked well for me but it was discontinued and since then the doctors put me on similar but I was never 100%

What about the mini pill? I took it for 10 years and loved it as there is no break and I rarely had a period

There is an alternative pill you can get to delay your period for holidays etc, i used it in the past when i wasnt on the pill! No idea what its called but they knew what to give me when i rang to ask about it x

I'd recommend the implant, I had it after my first, and removed it before my second and my periods returned to normal pretty quickly so conception with my second happened quite quickly despite being on the implant for 3 years. I also opted for it again so that in 3 years time when it comes out, we can either try for another or opt for sterilisation at that point if we decide on no more children ☺️

I had a Mirina coil last week no real symptoms apart from a bit of cramping after but nothing major. They now last 8 years which is great for me I’ve just had my second and don’t plan to have anymore. I like the fact I don’t have to worry about remembering to do anything xx

@Gemma does it stop your periods altogether? X

@Roisin oh I never knew that!

You take it for as long as you want to delay it- I took it for a week to avoid around my hen- then you get your period when you stop taking it- norethisterone
