What birth control is everyone planning on using after they have their baby?

I came off birth control 3 years ago cause every single hormonal method I tried just messed me up in some way. We started using fertility tracking with temperature and condoms. But now I can't really track my BBT cause having a newborn I'm not sleeping consistently at all and I don't know if I trust condoms not to break. Should I just accept that I need to go back on hormonal contraceptive? I don't want anything long term as we'd like another in a couple years

I think copper coil is non hormonal but I know 2 people who have gotten pregnant with a copper coil so not as reliable as they state it to be 🤦🏻‍♀️

Not planning to get on any as I like to know what’s happening with my body, I was off birth control for 3 years and with my partner for nearly a year before I fell pregnant and we also never used condoms!

@Amy-Jo yeah I don't think I fancy anything like that, I know you can get it taken out early but I don't like that you can't just stop taking it yourself

@Teale I got pregnant not being on any that's why now I'm questioning it all😅 So glad he's here now but I hadn't planned to have kids this early. It did take 2 years for the temp tracking and condoms to fail but I REALLY can't have that happen again right now

I’ll probably go back onto coil again as that worked for me and was great x

My birth control is having a baby🫠

I had the copper coil and had it put back in last week after having my baby. Wouldn’t go with anything else now personally. Before the coil I used to take the mini pill and oh my word, I’ve never had such mental instability. I was suicidal and gained insane amounts of weight in 6 weeks. The copper coil is so easy. Fitting it is quick and in my opinion, painless. It works instantly and yes, if you want it out you may have to have a week or two for an appointment but then once it’s out the effects stop immediately whereas hormone contraception can take months to adjust back to normal once stopping it And every form of contraception involves the risk of becoming pregnant still.

Personally I got back on BC when I was 2 weeks pp just so it’s in my body by the time I have sex they put me on norethendrone because it only has progesterone and if you’re breastfeeding the estrogen can mess up your supply my dr told me. But me and my fiance don’t plan on anymore kids so when my daughters 1-2 I’m going to talk to him about getting a vasectomy

@Andreena I'm considering the mini pill cause like you say progesterone doesn't effect breastfeeding, but I've heard some people it wasn't good for their mood. I don't mind some side effects but I really can't deal with low moods or anything like that

Vasectomy.

my husband is getting a vasectomy, i was on birth control from 16 to 22 and it ruined my body, i had the implant in my arm, im one and done tho so im not the best person to say😭

Coil put in during C section.

I refuse to use any birth control, so my husband is getting a vasectomy

I had the copper coil pre pregnancy to eliminate the 10+ years of hormonal contraceptions and regulate my periods before we started trying. After my second baby I’ve had it put in again. I’ve never had any issues with it and highly recommend it as a non-hormonal contraception. Obviously there are horror stories about everything out there so I think it’s trial and error until you find what works for you!

@Lizzie is the copper coil the same thing as the copper iud?

@Samantha 100% once we're done having kids this is the way to go

Not planning to use any ever again. We will continue tracking my cycles and using condoms during my fertile window to avoid pregnancy until we’re ready for baby number 2❤️

Hubby is getting a vasectomy as we’re done after baby No.2

@Naomi my faith in condoms has been lost😅

@Andreena it is! IUD is the “medical” term I think!

I got the depo injection when my little one was 3 weeks old. I ain’t had any issues so far. But before getting pregnant I came off the pill due to severe mood swings.

@Bethan I was considering this until I found out it could take 2 years to conceive after your last injection, some people its sooner but you wouldn't know until you try

Hmm I didn't after having my first and was pregnant with my second 5 month pp 😂 After my 2nd I had a copper coil, no hormones and it's worked great for me, even given me lighter and less periods which suits me fine x

@Bethan @Ashley not wanting to scare you but the depo messed me up for years and there are many studies about the negative aspects of this. I am currently pursuing legal action because of what happened to me using it x

@Rach Hi, I used it previously when I was about 19 (13 years ago) and had it for about 2/3 years and never had any issues. I came off it as the GP surgery was closing and the nearest clinic I couldn’t get to via a bus. I have been on nearly all contraceptions over the years and the only issue I ever had was with the copper coil it moved and was hanging out and was given the mini pill which gave me bad mood swings. I have had the injection now since January so thats 2 injections and no issues.. I suppose everyones bodies are different.

@Ashley I think most contraceptions are the same though. On the NHS website it state up to a year. ‘When you stop getting the contraceptive injection, it can take up to 1 year for your fertility to return to previous levels’.

Tracking cycle and condoms too. Once we have two, we will talk about tube tie or vase

@Bethan hey sorry I've only just seen your response. I didn't have any issues with the depo whilst using it but when I came off it I had no periods for 10 years and couldn't get pregnant. I tried for 20 years before doing some intense detoxes and finally getting pregnant naturally at 37 years old x
