Personally I took 2 weeks off. Because we didn’t have definite date for egg collection or transfer, the dates were based off the last scan to see how many follicles I had
I have only done one cycle, but like you I work hybrid and can WFH whenever I like. So I worked until the day of the collection (but the 2-3 days before collection WFH), then took 2 days off and then it was the weekend. 2 said would've been enough to return to work I think, but I was still a little uncomfortable. Good luck!
My boss was one of the few people I told we were doing it. There are just so many appointments first thing in the morning that it would have been too hard to juggle without a bit of leeway. Thankfully my boss was super understanding and has let me take off whatever time I needed. Some employers do have a policy for IVF, so it’s worth double checking with HR if that’s something you can take advantage of. As for taking time off, I didn’t really need much - two days for the egg collection, a few half days for the transfers. I’ve done my injections in restaurant bathrooms and on planes - you find a way to make it fit around your life.
I think it depends on how you feel and your work environment. I told my manager and he's been really supportive. I only took 2 days off (transfer and test date) cause egg collection fell over Easter break but I was very sore after it and I wouldn't have been able to work. One advice I received and would share is to take test date off if you can. Whether you'll want to celebrate or sulk, the last thing you'll want is to be at work.
I worked all the time up to egg collection, took that day off and went back to work then took some time off for post transfer x
Hey I've had three rounds of IVF so far. The day of egg collection you aren't permitted to work due to the sedation effects, the first two times I took the day afterwards off but this time I just worked from home. I took time off during the TWW as I found this bit to be the most difficult. The five days after egg collection waiting for the news of fertilisation can be hard, but work is a good distraction I found. Good luck 🤞🏼
I worked throughout and had four rounds of IVF. The only days I took off were the day of egg collection itself and worked from home the day after. Also took the morning off for transfers and worked from home in the afternoon x
I'm a baker, and I am active all day, in an 8 hour shift I do around 15,000 steps. I took 2 weeks annual leave during my IVF cycles for stims and egg collection. I wanted to feel relaxed as possible and have no other commitments. I felt really uncomfortable for days after both of my egg collections
I’m a teacher and worked throughout the whole process. Luckily my egg retrieval fell on a Saturday so I was off for the weekend. Then my FET was on a Friday so I took off work that day and was able to rest the following weekend. I did t have to take off work until I was 6 weeks pregnant and was nauseous and throwing up However, the medication affects everyone differently. Some days I was very fatigued, uncomfortable, or bloated. No one at my work knew I was doing IVF so I tried to power through it.
Work didn’t know I was doing ivf and I didn’t want to tell them due to promotion and bonus pot so I said I was having a “procedure” on the day of collection and then had a couple of days off as sick. Then my transfer I booked off 2 days of annual leave and then it was the weekend so rested for a few days :) Nobody questioned it :)
I worked during all of mine, even hen I got home after egg collection. It would drive me mad sitting around doing nothing. I wfh after for a few days as I was in quite a bit of pain.
I always took day of and day after epu off, also took day of transfer off but otherwise worked. I found it better to be busy and not focusing always on the what ifs. My 2nd epu I ended up over stimulated so took an extra couple of days then for monitoring
