Yes I am planning on declining the IV, my doctor today said that at the hospital they are trained to place IVs quickly in case of emergency - so I am willing to take the risk and let them just do it if it’s necessary vs having it there as a precaution.

Totally up to you!! If it’s pitocin they’re talking about (in case of emergency ex: hemorrhage) I’m pretty sure they can give it IM (through your muscle, similar to a flu shot). It wouldnt act AS fast but it’ll get the job done. My advice if you’re leaning more towards the IV: try to drink some fluids before they try to place it. Make sure they’re aware that your veins roll, so that way they can try to stabilize it. But ultimately it’s up to you. I would not blame you in the slightest if you refused the IV cannula all together.
