Im going to ask them Monday morning as they phoned me as i was driving home so took me by surprise the teacher has said he’s been brill for the 3 days he’s been there apart from a wobble yesterday where he refused to sit on the carpet with the other children
Yeah I wouldn’t say that’s enough to put him on reduced hours. Ask them loads of questions and always ask what they are going to do to support you and ur son. Good luck
Early years teacher here. Odd suggestion for reduced hours this early on. More than likely they need a plan in place for him to have another space to go to when overstimulated or just a walk about with a member of staff. I have had all kinds of behaviours in my classrooms over the years and never suggested reduced timetables and I’ve had extreme stuff (kids actively violent towards me and others) and we just found other provisions for them. Here if youd liked I speak further x
Hes on a reduced time table 12 last week and 12.10 this week spoke with the school senco shes got information from the nursery aswel she said the issues were he got quite angry in t he afternoons not listening wanting to do other things to what the teacher was asking and was swearing they have asked for my to attend the gp don’t exactly know what for as when i asked if she thinks its adhd/ autism she never gave me an answer
So firstly I would ask them what it is specifically he is struggling with. If they have concerns etc. if the school are noticing traits of ADHD etc they can put a referral in or your GP. don’t be fobbed off by them saying because he is under 5. Try and see if they think it work better if he was in a class with less children etc. it seems that they are being very quick to do nothing. I am guessing it’s been less than a week and they are already suggesting this. They need to help ur son before they suggest reduced hours because they will still get funded for him regardless of the hours he does and also the impact it will have on your work life. They seem very quick to be brushing him off
