Getting a lightweight seat allows you to bring it on the plane..... Which is much safer than traveling with a lap infant. And your child is used to being in a car seat.... So they know how to behave while in the seat. Nurse or bottle feed for takeoff and landing. Baby can't pop their ears like an older child or adult can.
Diapers are so cheap in other countries. Just go to the supermarket and buy a pack. I’m in Greece now and got 56 diapers for about $7. An 8 month baby is the best time to travel. Just carry him around in a carrier. Forget a stroller. Rent a car and rent the car seat along with it.
I’ve heard the suggestion to just buy nappies when you get there, as long as you’re okay possibly changing brands, since they’re bulky to travel with and widely available to buy more
dont rent a carseat as most places that rent them out do not follow carseat safety laws (some people have gotten a FF seat for an 8mo RF child) buy an infant seat that 8mo fits in just for the airplane and rent a car to use it tor the couple days. renting a car will be a gamechanger compared to taxi/uber. or honestly choose somewhere that you can walk everywhere you go (i took my then 10mo to NYC because we didnt need a car to visit the locations i wanted, just a stroller)
@Ash I’ll be getting apartment close to everything to be walkable… driving I won’t be I don’t like driving holiday.. plus I’ll be having the wine cocktail n yeah Uber mostly.. thank you xx
@Monica I like a drink on holiday ! Not lathered and hate driving on holiday but appreciate the suggestion!!!!
1000 nappies is a bit extreme lol I went through 120
when i went to Portugal with my baby when he was 4.5m i took about 60 nappies for a 5 day trip and that did good! the main thing I would suggest if your baby is on formula take extra cause even though i did, my baby drank extra cause it was hot and almost ran out & in greece (where im from) i know most of the brands from the uk won’t be there, would also defo suggest a pram fan to pack in your hand luggage as the airport/plane/greece can get hot! X
@La-Verne saw this is an old post. But did you end up taking the trip. Would have suggested a doona. A woman bought my old one off me for her trip away with her LO’s
oh that’s acc a good point, I took my doona when my babs still fit in it abroad and it was a life saver 😅
Car seats: if you're visiting someone, buy a us car seat and ship it to them ( for example) . Look up car seats for that country, as in seats that are sold for use in that county. Get a lightweight one . Consider babywearing for places you can't use a stroller when out and about. At 8 months, they can be in a stroller, but consider a travel one for ease of use. Travel cubes are usually a reccomendation, so you would pack one for your clothes, one for babys clothes, one for diapers and diaper supplies. A bag for all toiletries ( yes, even baby's.... Tooth brushing in some way is good for little gums and as little teeth come in )
