Toddler Home Activities- Reduce Screen Tome

My son is 4 who’s autistic and nonverbal he watches a lot of screen time and I think it’s made his attention skills worse. I really struggle to get on with doing things at home if I take away screen time , he’ll throw everything around the house or will break things. He his unable to focus on an activity for more than 5 minutes. We do a lot of singing at home, read 1 word books or counting. I have tried getting him kinetic sand but he hates touching - I think it’s hand sensory related as he doesn’t like feeding himself he’s still fed by me. I really want to get him into water play we’ve tried playing with the bathroom and some toys but he’s not interested only during bath time whilst he’s in the tub. I would love for some more games recommendations or even any websites where I could get more home activities from? Any fine or gross motor skills activities would be appreciated too. Btw we’ve downloaded an app called Reading Eggs which is amazing it’s teaching him his alphabet and phonics. However we would like to teach him off screen but he finds it less engaging to play or learn. I just feel guilty as I’m giving him a lot of screen time so I can do some work. Would really appreciate some advice as I would love for him to do more independent activities. Thanks

We do a lot of outside play with my son whether in the front yard, a walk or a park. He can be out there for hours but when we come back in play still hard for us so we do use tv a lot inside but with all his therapies his attention is getting a lot better. But I would try outside and water hose play, mud, digging etc.

Following because I have this issue with my son. He also doesn't like playing with me. The little bit that he does play is with wooden blocks. They can have letters, numbers, and shapes on each side.

I would also love some ideas. My son barely plays with toys. He has 3 favourites he rotates through : a fruit &veg cut up set, busy board and magnatiles but that can only keep him entertained for so long.

My son also loves bubbles so we bought him an automatic bubble machine, keeps him occupied for another 5 mins

Oh its so comforting to know i’m not alone in this. My boy plays with nothing. He used to play more when he was younger lining things up but now nothing. If he doesn’t have his tablet he just sits there staring into space. I’m yet to find toys that he will engage with and i’ve brought so many

@Charisse I have started to give him toys below his age that he wasn’t interested in before but again he’ll only play for a maximum of five minutes by himself or with me
