First time I travelled my LO was 3 and half months to the south of Italy. Flights are much easier at that age than now at 15 months! Go enjoy, just make sure you pack some calpol and enough milk if your girl is formula feed.
We did Cyprus when our LO was 4 month old and that was end October time. We had the best time. It was ridiculously hot still so he only wore vests the whole time so I wouldnāt spend too much on lots of outfits.
@Teresa can I ask what you think is essential to take? Also.. what did you do for a pram? I really donāt want to risk taking her Icandy š¬
Best time to travel, weāve been taking our girl since she was 8/9 weeks old and they fly super well and sleep most of the way xx
@Jennifer an I ask what your essentials were? Iām worried about what to take for a pram x
@Sarah how did you sterilise baby bottles? X
@Christie take some Milton tablets, fill up the sink and throw everything in and drip drink on the bathroom side. Super fast and stress free xx
@Sarah is it safe to use the water in somewhere like Greece or Cyprus? I guess so as itās sterilising
@Christie yeah, the Milton will kill anything. If the room as a microwave (which most do) thereās always bottles like MAM that can be sterilised in there too. A quick google too says Cyprus and Greece treat their water so itāll be fine. My essentials would be a travel pram (weāve always used the yoyo) that goes onboard with you or is left at the boarding ramp folded, a change of clothes in case of š¤¢š©explosion mid flight, calpol, feed or give a dummy for takeoff and landing for ear pressure and let the white noise of the plane do its job of sending them to sleep xx
@Sarah did you take a car seat or just put baby in the upright position in the pram
I have been traveling pretty much every single month since my baby is born. She does absolutely great in every single flight. She falls asleep pretty much half the flight. I have a cheaper stroller and car seat for travel only as I have a very expensive regular stroller for our outings and I don't want it to break. For sterilization you can take a small pan (if you will have stove access) and just boil some water and dip the bottles in. Best advise I can give you DO NOT TAKE 300 THINGS ON BOARD WITH YOU. I pack to have baby essentials at hand easily such as clothes and diapers and put the rest on your checked suitcase
I think what puts me off is all the sterilising bottles (formula fed), having enough formula and nappies that they are used to and we know work, sensitivities at that age e.g they arnt 'supposed' to even have suncream on their delicate skin at that age, water is different so that causes more issues with sterilising/cleaning etc, I'd worry about sleeping patterns and being too hot, having to take a car seat for taxis, travel cot as Iv heard hotels often don't have good standards with them, etc etc. BUT Im an over thinker. I know plenty do and have a brilliant time! I would agree about the point of going at that age before they are on the move means that side of things is easier.
@Christie I donāt take a car seat as we have family with one overseas (that meant their regulations, not eu) and put her in recline in the pram. I also took the baby carrier when she was teeny for sleepy transfers and connections xx
We got a travel pram, would definitely recommend! And Milton cold water sterilising all the way. A dooky pram shade, pram fan and little blow up bath ideal for letting them have a paddle next to sunlounger and then doubles as a bath in your room x

@Christie Pram - silvercross clic (took onboard too) Snoozeshade - Amazing for shade on the pram Portable fan - we had it on the pram to keep baby cool Formula - we took kendamil ready to feed bottles. So much easier. Milton tablets - easy sterilising, we used bottled water Nappies/Wipes - thereās a Lidl in Cyprus and we got them from there. Car seat - we hired a car with a car seat so didnāt have to worry about that. In terms of routine. We kept baby on UK time. So heās usually go to bed at 7pm. So we did 9pm Cyprus time. This worked well with keeping his routine when coming back home. Something to think about is bathtime. How you plan on bathing baby. The sink we had in our room was shallow so we couldnāt use that so we showered with him. A little awkward and slippy but we made it work for the week.
@Christie hey Iāve traveled quite a bit, at 5 months then at 9 months and 4-5 months is a little easier imo. So with the pram, you can rent a yo-yo (if recommended this as itās easy, light and cabin accept). I rent mine from badoodle. Itāll cost around Ā£70 ish I think. For sterilisation, buy Milton cold water tablets and a collapsible bucket off Amazon (5 litre). Both will take up little to no room. I used nilton tablets all the way until the first year and think it super simple. Try and get a flight around a nap time and definitely bring a carrier (stretchy material wrap one for the plane and another sturdier one if you have it for the rest of the holiday)
Went to Tenerife at a similar age, traveled a couple more times since. We got a travel pram. Recaro lexa elite is parent facing and lie flat. Doesnāt go in the cabin but you donāt always get the choice anyway. Tag your pram so you know where it is. You can get zinc suncream such as badger baby which is fine for under 6 months. We packed way too many clothes. Get some dr beckman travel wash just in case but pack light. Great time to go because they sleep lots on the plane, donāt need much entertaining, no food. We didnāt use formula but check which mineral water is low sodium. Hired a car and car seat. Bath in the sink. Take a bit of your usual baby wash in an old hotel toiletry bottle. I took enough nappies for a few days then bought some. Dodot nappies were recommended by a friend if you end up in Tenerife. We had the air conditioning at the same temp at home so too his usual sleepwear. We ate out during the day but in the hotel at night as baby might or might not have been asleep.
I took mine when she was 5 months old, we bought a cheaper flip up pram for the holiday which lay flat for nap time on holiday. We bought bottled water over there and boiled it with the kettle in our room, i washed them as normal then put the teat and everything inside the bottle then soaked them for abit until we needed to use one
We did a 24 hour round trip to NZ with our 10 month old. We bought a cheap Ā£50 buggy & used a travel Milton tub & Milton tablets to sterilise bottles. Also took sponges & washing up liquid so we could rewash them in the airport toilets haha. We had access to a kettle & microwave once we were there though. Travel tips: Calpol, more nappies than you think youāll need, feed baby during take off/landing, book a bassinet seat if itās a night flight x
@Christie nappies, lots of baby wipes and formula. Not much else they need at that age and clothes of course. I was using a mother care pram, no issue there either. They take it before boarding and you get it back on the luggage belt
@Christie we travelled a few times at this age and it was fantastic! We took the Nuby UV portable steriliser which was super quick and easy. When we arrived we got an Uber eats delivery of bottled water and nappies so that we didnāt take up space in our luggage taking heaps. We bought a Babyzen for travel and it is fantastic! We use it so much even at home we probably use it just as much as his larger pram. We also took a mix of ready to feed bottles and powder formula, we used the ready made if we were out through the day. The must have for us was the Nupy Rapid cool, made making bottles so much quicker and easier. Also his snoozeshade was fantastic as with a parasol you are constantly having to move it about. X
