I think it was Target… my son is 8 weeks and has been everywhere though- restaurants, over families homes, to the park etc. I don’t solely breastfeed- I’m combo feeding so I always prepare bottles ahead of time and he mainly sleeps the entire time we’re out… Also make sure to keep a few pacifiers on me and of course enough diapers and wipes. I can’t stay in the house all day with a baby… I will lose my mind lol I also have a 19 month old so we need to get out the house😂
We’ve been to the park and on walks in neighboring towns to get a change of scenery. I have a bag always packed with the essentials so I don’t have to think too hard before heading out of the house - diapers, wipes, diaper pad, bottles, formula, pacifier, extra clothes, burp cloths, blanket, sun hat, etc. Every time we come back home I refill the bag. I realized that I’m doing the same amount of work whether I’m at home or out and about so might as well get some fresh air! I don’t mind breastfeeding in public and have gotten pretty good at changing diapers on the go. The hardest part I’ve found is getting my LO in the car seat without crying… which can be especially nerve wracking if you are driving by yourself.
@Taylor that’s a great idea! We walk around our neighborhood, either in the pram, our Doona stroller or wearing her. I keep a diaper bag packed all the time too! I don’t have formula and bottles in the bag, though, so those would be great things to add to the bag. I’ve been making multiple bottles before we go out, and put them in ziplock bags in the diaper bag.
First trip was 3 days old, went to The Farm, it's kind of like a petting zoo. Then at like 5 days we were at a playground....with a high energy toddler, it's impossible to stop life and just hang out at home. Just this week we were all in Walmart and I nursed while trying to pick out yogurt. Always have your bag packed or 90% packed, maybe you need to change out spare clothes because of weather, but everything else should be there. When you get home, unpack/repack what was used. Do this not only to make it easier on you, but also in case of emergencies.
8 weeks old and we traveled to Maui
His first outing was going to the store after I left the hospital at day 3. Since then we’ve gone somewhere at least every 3-4 days. He will be 6 weeks this coming Tuesday and we are now active in a local mommy+me 2x week playdate, and he goes to the grocery store/etc with me any time I need to go. He’s baby #3 and I quickly realized years ago with #1 that I am not one who does well either staying in/at the house all week….so have always kept myself decently active, depending on what my body needs. 💖
