@Ioana Yeah it’s bizarre.
They’re just supposed to practice the same strokes that are on the page. So don’t actually write Zs or 7s. It’s pre-writing practice to get used to the position of the strokes and writing from left to right. So where the dots are on each line, start there and make lines that look just like the lines to the left. That’s how I understand it anyway. (Teacher of 16 years, taught K for 5 and still work with K-2).
I've never heard of 'ez'. No idea what that means. Is that another way of saying Zee or Zed, if in the UK? What country is this from out of curiosity? I also don't get what they want the kids to do/write. You are not alone lol
this is Kindergarten homework?! that’s crazy to me. i’m not understanding it either 🫣🤣
@Rhiannon it’s trying to say “make an easy across line.” Basically it’s the lingo they use to teach the kids how to make the stroke. It’s not something I’ve ever seen in curriculum, though.
@GMF Thank you. Thats weird. It reads much clearer to just say 'make an across line' the 'ez' seems extra and somewhat a redundant addition to the instruction. Confusing.
What is happening here 🙃🙃🙃🙃🙃
Lol thank you ladies! I understand it now. Thanks @GMF I can only imagine how much “easier” his homework will be. I’ve never seen anything explained quite like it. @Rhiannon I’m in the USA.
@Zaza That’s what I thought at first lol
@Kate I can only imagine what he’ll be doing next lol hopefully I’ll be more alert myself.
I HATE what's been done to education. This is an excellent post on what to do instead of writing with children under 7. It has a bunch of recommendations from an occupational therapist. Also, the images at the end of the post have x-rays of a 3 year old's hand and a 7 year old's hand to show the differences in development. https://www.facebook.com/neurochildHQ/posts/959780274480083
Why do they make everything so damn complicated now a days ??? They do this nonsense but won’t teach cursive 🙄
Was a kindergarten teacher and this is honestly great !! You practice making the lines at certain heights to prepare the kids for making letters correctly!
@Alyson Right? I was thinking about that not long ago. If I want my kids to read and write in cursive I’ll have to teach them myself. How times have changed.

@Haley I guess I can see that. I remember tracing the dotted letters and that was that. Interesting to see how it’s changed or a different style.
I also don't understand it 🤣
I have many questions.. What language is? Why does a child that young have homework?
Wtf is an ez Across line??? 😂 Why is Across capitalised?
@Emma lol you said it. Trying to figure it all out made my headache worse. This was the first time he brought “homework” home. So he basically had to draw lines. I’m confused too.
@Laurie Glad I wasn’t the only one.
Please I’ve been looking at this for like 5 mins and I’m still like huh 😭🤣🤣
In school my kids have to sign student contracts and they just print their name. It made me think they are never going to have a signature if I don’t teach them
What is this?🫠🫠🫠🫠 I don’t get it neither.
