Hi all, When do you think is an appropriate age for babies to go to a sensory class? Thanks Grace

I started going to free local ones when my girl was about 8w old. She loved the crinkly metallic stuff like blankets and mirrors. Plus it was nice to talk to other mums and have a coffee out of the house xx

We started at 6 weeks (we’ve done 2) she slept through most of the first 1 but was a bit more awake this week 😅

I'm going to start after baby has had his first jabs 😊

Hey there, so I've taken my little one to two sessions already. She was only 4 weeks old at the first one, even though most places recommend starting at 8 weeks. But they said younger babies are welcome too. I've had a few people make comments like, "Oh, you're brave to bring her out!" or "Wow, you're out already!" And then there are those who say things like, "I could never get out of the house with a newborn." , I think it's all about doing what feels right for you and your baby. Don't let anyone's judgment stop you from exploring and socialising. It's super important for your mental health, and some fresh air will do your baby good too.

I started taking my daughter when she was 10wks as before that it would have been a waste of the lesson as she’d either be asleep or feeding throughout. At 10wks there was some semblance of a routine in place. These damn baby classes weren’t cheap at like £9/10 each so yea I wanted to make sure she’d be awake for it to 🤣

@Sarah I had similar comments at my first one and she 6 weeks old 😂 we have been getting out daily since she was around 2 weeks so it wasn’t a big thing for us ☺️

Thanks ladies! really helpful x

We started at 8 weeks

We started at 2 weeks and go to free ones (sensory, massage, singing, etc). These are run by the local council and also the library. It's not just about babies stimulation and entertaining, it's about you as mum getting out the house and getting to speak with other mums. You do what feels right for you and your baby. I find even now he's 7 weeks, other mums at the groups are shocked I manage to get out with him and more so when they hear when we started. That boosts my mental health so it's a bonus.

I also started at 8 weeks, babies have no clue what's going on but it's more for you to socialise with other mummies. Around month 3-4 they start to appear more awake.

Can anyone recommend a sensory class nr north leeds by any chance?

I waited until 8 weeks just because I was nervous about him not having his vaccinations yet x

My son went to his first one at 10 days old but he’s the second child so hasn’t got much of a choice 😅 I started at 6 weeks with my first… But he didn’t really wake up for much of it until closer to 12 weeks!

Our little girl is 17 weeks old now and I’d say she’s really engaged/manages to stay awake for the whole class (usually an hour) so I’m glad we waited. xx

@Lauryn literally the same, I think too often people judge us based on their own abilities, there is an old way of thinking that babies need to be stuck inside 40days 40 nights but fresh air interactions is good for them and the parent too lol
