Gymnastics

My almost 3 year old started gymnastics this past week. From other peoples experience, how long did it take your toddler to really start listening & following instructions? My son has never had to follow instructions from anyone other than parents & grandparents so he’s been having a tough time paying attention to the instructor. I’m sure I’m over thinking it because he’s only been to one class but I like knowing what to expect!!

Sounds totally normal to me! My almost 3 year old started a dance class and tumble class last month. She's doing better than I expected for how 🤪 she can be! But I remember when my oldest started her dance class as an almost 3yo, and she had a major running problem. Lol Played with the other kids and had trouble staying in place for like a year. It's good for them to start listening to a teacher figure! Give him time to adjust. 😊 Everything new is so exciting right now!

That sounds like my kid! We are doing soccer and the first session he listened maybe 5 minutes max. We’ve just done our seventh session and he’s worked his way up to around twenty minutes. (The sessions are 40 🥴). But definitely as they learn what to expect and start to see repeat moves then they follow along a bit better. And this is a great age to build those listening skills!

Mine just started dance. By the second class she was trying almost everything. But she refused to bow to the teacher. She's the queen so guess she bows to no one haha 👑

My daughter started gymnastics at about 2.5 years old and she definitely has a hard time following the rules sometimes. I decided to made it so our classes are parent participation so I’m there to make sure she doesn’t disturb the rest of the class and can get that extra help if needed. She’s on her second season now and she definitely listens to her teacher a lot better now.
