I think I would try it. If it's focussed through play then I don't see the issue. No different to some nursery rhymes and reading books together etc. Unless I'm misunderstanding x
I'm the opposite of Mel, I think it sounds pitched too low 🙈 But yes I would if it was educational and provided by someone trained in EYFS. Are you wanting to set up your own business?
Maybe, I think it’d depend how it was done. We do those things at home/ nursery so would need to be a bit different to feel worthwhile.
https://numbertrain.co.uk/about-us/what-is-number-train/ These classes near me are pretty popular with a similar concept so think you’d have a market for it
I feel like when we go to groups at present, we go for fun. When it comes to circle/ story/ singing time Elaine can take it or leave it... often she leaves it, even though she loves reading 1 to 1 at home. Might be just that she doesn't like group activity 🤷🏼♀️
We would give it a go but there would be no pressure for my LO to learn. We keep things fun at this age if she actually learns something is a bonus if not, hopefully she’s had fun. And if she would not like it after the first couple of classes we would stop going.
Thanks everyone for your honest feedback. Next time I will be more brave and not go incognito haha. I am considering starting a business doing this. I am an Early Years teacher. Is there anything you would or would not like in these sessions? Xx
I think there's quite a clear split between just for fun and a more educational group and diversity in your offer would be important. Honestly I'd love a group that's more of a parenting education group and would pay handsomely to learn from you how to teach certain things properly but then again I was a secondary school teacher and education is really important to me 🙈 I feel like we've stumbled our way through learning how to hold a pen properly for example and I know there'll be loads of these that come up that I'd like a hand knowing how to teach! I'd expect a more informal group to be more popular but not cost as much.
@Adele thanks this is really useful feedback x
Regarding holding a pen correctly - Google “nip, flip, grip” as this is a helpful technique when they are learning. It will depend if the child is ready or not though - my nearly three year old is not ready for this yet x
No, I think it's too young to focus on those things
