Medical or surgical?

Hi… I found out today that there has been no heartbeat since I was 9 weeks and I was currently 12 weeks. So I’ve had a missed miscarriage. Never experienced a miscarriage before so need some advice on whether to go the medication way or the surgical way. Please if u could share your experiences. I’m planning on call the gynae department in my hospital either tomorrow or the day after with a decision on what to do next but would really like some advice… thank you!!! Xxx

I’ve had my surgery today. Honestly couldn’t fault it and glad it’s all over. I decided to go surgery due to horror stories about the medication being painful and not working and having to have surgery anyway. Was a bit woozy a couple hours ago but feel completely fine now. So sorry for your loss x

I had a missed miscarriage at 8 weeks had to wait for 10 days to confirm (diff situation to yours) but I had a medical miscarriage and it was all out the way, 3 weeks and had a negative test (had 3+ and dye stealers so took a while) best decision I made for me, gutted but quicker the better for me x

So my first mmc was just over 9 weeks and found out when I was 12. As I had already started spotting at that point i had a natural miscarriage and it was very tramatic seeing everything pass. I could imagine the medication route would be the same. Currently in the middle of another miscarriage. Same thing just over 9 weeks and I am nearly 12 weeks now with no signs of anything happening. I do have a d&c scheduled for Wednesday. I am nervous for it but I feel it would be better to not have to go through natural again.

I’ve just come to the end of my MMC, I let it go natural and although it was traumatic seeing what I passed and the extent of blood too I then had to have two lots of medication to try get the last bits out. The medication both times didn’t work (I didn’t have any cramps or significant bleeds) but they were happy that what was left was minimal. In total I bled for a whole month and then tested today which was after 2 weeks of no bleeding or spotting. I was anxious at the idea of surgery however it’s over and done with so fast, natural has been a very physically & mentally draining time 💖

Surgical under local was my experience. X

Hi sorry to hear your experience. I am the other side and this happened to me last week found out at 13 weeks and baby was ten. I had the medication route, and I have to say the first pill didn’t effect me howevered I passed a lot of blood 24 hours later but was slightly bleeding before. I then however had my second medication and it was fine had slight cramping but hospital were amazing. I’m now home and got bleeding still just wanting it to go away. My scan shows there is still some blood. But the medication for me was ok 🆗

I'm sorry I may come across as fearmongering but I went medication way and ended up having a catastrophic postpartum haemorrhage and needing surgery so if I could go back I would have gone the surgical route from the start seems faster safer and a bit less stressful for the horrible situation x

I just wanted to come back with my expierence.I had the d&c yesterday and I bled pretty heavily for like 8 hours following the surgery I was very sore as well. But by the evening I was only spotting and the pain was basically gone. So I definitely recommend it.
