I always have tv in the background , for some background noise for my sanity 🤣 it’s different if you are plonking them in front of it with nothing else. Don’t worry x
My little girl does the same. She stops what she's doing and fully ignores you and watches it. As soon as you turn it off, she's fine. They just like the colours and sounds x
Scientificly, children up to 2 years old should not have any screen time. Apparently, it is proven that watching tv by such small babies is bad for their development and is also one of the main cause of ADHD and autism. No judging here, I'm just saying what I read. Once on the other group, I asked for some baby friendly YT channels, I was lynched by other mothers 🤷🏼♀️🤦🏼♀️ And we don't have tv on. But we don't even have any contracts such as Sky or similar. But my lo watches Finny the shark during bedtime routine.
I've had the same concerns, and I have started switching off the TV and listening to a podcast or audiobook instead. Personally, I feel like I'm a lot happier, and LO's focus is on her play, but it's all about balance, and you've got to find what's right for you. But yes, I've found audio entertainment is a good trade off for me.
@Emma this is a great idea, thank you!
I don’t put tv on at all as I know my baby is very curious to watch it. I do feel like not having TV on is really helping him to explore toys/ our home (since he’s crawling), he is focussed on learning all these new skills and his environment
I’ve stopped putting it on as my daughter 6.5 months will be engrossed to the point she will ignore us and anything going on around her. I listen to podcasts instead , I will put the radio on or sing some nursery rhymes. Tv is not good for them and can contribute to delays.
i have the TV on too,i say my little boy is nosey… i don’t THINK it’ll do anything to affect her development if it’s not for long periods of time
