Depends on the airline.. who are you flying with? In my country (Australia) some airlines will let you take baby pram, car seat, bassinet all for free. Others will give you extra checked in luggage, or extra carry on… so you’ll need to investigate what you can take first. In terms of the plane, take extra clothing (babies poo more on planes!) lots of wipes, milk etc.. basically what you need for a big day out. Again, airports are flexible with babies and usually allow you to take more than 100ml bottles of liquids. As you’re going for a month, decide if you need a travel bassinet or car seat… or if a family member can pick up a cheap one or have a spare at their house. I’m always under the mindset - travel with less as it’s A LOT to lug around

@Tash I’m in the US, and I think my sister might be getting me on Spirit Airlines because it’s cheaper and I’m flying all the way across the country. But I’m still waiting on a ticket so I can investigate more on the airline she’s putting me on. I’m just so nervous to be on a plane with my baby and getting through TSA with liquids, it makes sense that they have more wiggle room with babies on planes but it gives me anxiety. I was also told to make sure I have a bottle ready for takeoff and landing to help the baby with the ear popping and stuff

Yes I was told to feed baby during take off and landing but it didn’t work out for me 😂 my baby is a guzzler and had finished eating before we had even lifted off the tarmac! 🙈 What I found worked well was to get on, and feed the baby straight away, and then get them to sleep as everyone else boards and they get the cabin ready for take off. If baby is fast asleep during take off (and again for landing) their ears will be fine and they’ll just sleep through it. Good thing is they are usually tired by the time you get on the plane due to all the excitement/ people / activity of getting through the airport! I also bought baby ear muffs - not worth it, you won’t need them. I travelled alone with baby, it’s a bit tough getting through the airport without a pram, (if checked in) but it’s manageable. Just make sure you have everything you need close by. I took a backpack onto the plane, and then filled the seat pocket with nappies, wipes, toys etc so I could just grab them quickly
