Has anyone been brave and looked down below?

I had three second degree tears, and it’s been 5 days now and I can’t bring myself to look there 😭😭 I just kind of what to see it in it’s healed state in case the sight scars me for life (no pun intended 😂)

I looked at my second degree tear and stitches at around day 10. I didn't want to look at it, it gave me the ick but I wanted to know where exactly they were and how they were looking x

My midwife told me not to look because, down there has been through a lot and needs some time😂

i’ve not looked, i don’t wanna freak myself out 😂😂

@Sophy this seems in line with what my instinct is telling me 😂 so that’s that

I did due to being stitched following an episiotomy. My external stitches came apart at day 7 which I wouldn't have known until day 10 if I hadn't looked. I was swabbed on day 7 and they rechecked them on day 10 to check they were healing and no signs of infection

@Sophie oooo really! I heard that’s super rare. Did you feel any extreme pain?

do you know what’s wild, after commenting on this post 12 hours ago, ive since been back in triage as the end of my stitches came apart 🫠 i’m day 9 PP, they swabbed to check for infection and sent me on my way with some antibiotics (they’ve said it’s not infected but said to take them anyway). not any extreme pain but defo enough that painkillers are needed and i’ll be taking it slow

@Hannah oh nooo! What are the chances 😭😭 was it the pain that made you question what was going on? Do you have to have it re-stitched? Awww take care of yourself. I hope it’s not too much of a bother xx

No pain, just felt uncomfortable peeing and sitting down so asked my husband to look as he'd seen them stitch me and knew what it looked like and he said they looked different so I got checked. My midwife said it just happens sometimes. Luckily no infection and told at day 11 to keep my legs closed as much as possible as it would help it heal (due to the location). Theyve told me to keep an eye on it and if any concerns before 6 weeks to call maternity assessment unit.

yeah, my pain felt different this afternoon, as if it was getting worse not better. they said they only restitch if the whole thing came apart but it was just the end bit for me! so the wound is just open a bit now and should just come together in its own 🫣
