We don’t really do it just because my toddler is the type whose behavior will get way worse with it, but if he didn’t I would put it on to do household chores and things. My one really strict opinion on it is Not during mealtimes and if I see a family out with an iPad kid I do judge honestly (with the caveat only a certain age, if it’s a kid older than like 3 I’m not one to know if they might have a disability or something). I know it’s a divisive one but it’s lazy parenting to stick a screen in front of your baby or toddler rather than teach them we eat and socialize during meals not sit on our phones.
(2yo boy) I try to limit it but he currently has chicken pox and I’m not gonna lie he’s been watching tv virtually non stop, as he’s not interested in playing. Really dislike doing it and I know I’m making a rod for my own back but while he’s poorly I’ve just given in and will go back to limiting it when he’s better 😵💫
We don’t limit
I've gone through phases of no limits, small limits and that's fine. But with both mine I noticed major increases in meltdowns and fussy moods even if they're only doing 20 minutes of screens a day. When we have no screens or TV they are different humans. Meltdowns decrease by 75%. So currently we have no screens. We will probably detox for a few months and go back to maybe 30 minutes a day.
I try to limit to up to an hour a day but I put tv on for my toddler in increments- 15 mins here, 30mins there. Typically when I’m getting ready to go out real fast or doing quick chores I don’t want him to interrupt with lol! Or when we get back from the park, it distracts him from throwing a tantrum over being home again right before his nap 🤣 so yeah😻 I always try to do some outings with my son, so he’s outside a lot and he gets into different things
My daughter is almost a year, so we’re a little too young for screen time. She’s watched Ms. Rachel a handful of times, once when my husband and I both had the stomach bug, etc. we’re going on a trip next month and we plan on letting her watch a bit then when we are on the plane.
My baby is only 7 months but she LOVES Ms. Rachel. I only let her watch 20 minutes of a video once a day while I do something productive
My kids are quite a bit older and only have limited screen time until their chores are done. Then they have unlimited
I’ve never limited screen time
We did no screen time until 2 and keep it very limited now, only 40 mins per week tops. I absolutely believe in the benefits, for every hour that other children are sat watching a screen, mine is reading, drawing, crafting, building, playing, on a bike ride etc etc and most importantly using her imagination and creativity because she hasn’t got a screen to pass the time.
No screentime whatsoever! We do music if anything. He won’t have screen time till he’s about 3 years old
I’m flexible with it but I’m not flexible with the content.
No tablets. Afraid she will get addicted to it (she is 3). She gets alittle tv in the morning ( like 25 min episode of something) and then tv when I'm making dinner. No screen time during the day unless she's sick.
no screen time at all
I’ll do about a hour a day sometimes more depending on if I’m cleaning or just need a little break 😓 it’s sad when moms get shamed for letting their little ones watch tv it won’t harm them at all unless it’s an excessive amount and they are extremely close to the screen
