Carobel has worked wonders for my babies reflux. The second we started using it she stopped bringing up milk!
@Chloe can you add this to antireflux milk? Is it something prescribed by the doctor or you can buy it in the shops?
@Lidia Oh yeah sorry, google says you can’t add it to anti reflux milk :( But if you’re just using Aptamil would it be worth trying to give him ‘normal’ Aptamil formula and adding Carobel? When I spoke to the paediatrician about it she said you can play around with the Carobel dose in the milk so you can get the desired thickness for your baby to see what works best. I’ve had it prescribed but you can buy it at the pharmacy, it’s only around £7. I guess if you’re using anti reflux milk that’s why they haven’t suggested to use it though. But honestly I was the same, washing endless amounts of clothes and had to wash her numerous times a day where she’d bring up so much milk and it would go all in her hair and neck rolls 🤦🏼♀️😂 but Carobel has been an absolute life saver!
Obviously I don’t have any experience with using anti reflux milk and how thick it actually is. But Carobel is handy as you can essentially chose the desired thickness. And like I said it’s worked absolute wonders for us! If you’re desperate could be worth speaking to GP about it? :) xx
i just had to get my LO an increased dose of omeprozole, she has 5ml once a day i put it in her furst bottle of the day. he may need a higher dose as my LO was doing well then went backwards it was because she gained more weight and got bigger so naturally needed more x
@Chloe many thanks ❤️
@Sophie inam using tablets. Is 5ml the same as 10mg of omeprazole?
Honestly Gaviscon is the only thing that helps our baby, he was on aptamil anti reflux too but is now on pepti 1!
Dosage of the Omeprazole needs to be increased I found with the weight
@Lidia honestly not sure but i’m assuming so, i thought they prescribe liquids for babies was there a reason they gave you a tablet how do you get him to take it i thought tablets were impossible for babies x
i would take little one to doctors so they can reweigh and see if he needs higher dosage x
I’m using Gastrotuss, not sure it actually does exist in uk! Still bringing up some milk but looks less distressed
@Sophie by dissolving it in water. He's learnt to take it but it took me a while!
@Jess we tried gaviscon and (me being ignorant here) I used to mix it with comfort formula and ot worked a treat but then they strongly advised to not mix comfort formula (already thick) with gaviscon, so I stopped using it and then they suggested the omeprazole. I also tried Gaviscon with normal formula and didn't work :(

@Chloe I was done with him vomiting much (again) so yesterday I went to a pharmacy and asked for it. They gave me it and tried last night and today's feeds. I think I'm finally onto something here!! He's not vomited although I think he's having an upset stomach but I read this could be a side effect and that it will resolve in a few days. Thank you so much for recommending this! @Emma FYI this is a dispensary item so I had to go to different pharmacies as not all of them have it. I found it after going to 4 pharmacies. You can order it online too. If you try it and if it works suggest to your doctor to put it on prescription so you save money in it.
@Lidia I’m glad it’s working for you, Honestly it was an absolute life saver for us! Xx
Following as I would really like any tricks to deal with this too! We constantly cover ours in bibs and muslins to reduce having to change clothes all the time but have not found another solution yet.
