Constipation

My 10 month old is constipated and has been on movicol for the last 3 months. However, the pharmacist can’t get the movicol in and the doctor gave us some Laxidoe (think that’s how you spell it) but that’s not doing anything for her. Her poos are like little sheep droppings which it usually like soft and mush. There’s a point through the day where her tummy is a bit hard and bloated as well from it. I already give her water and prune puree and it’s doing nothing to help her

Could she be allergic to something? Or an intolerance?xxx

@Charlotte Anything that we suspect an allergy to has been removed from her diet such as wheat/gluten, egg, banana, strawberry and tomato. She’s got a confirmed milk allergy and hasn’t had any milk since she was 5.5 months old. She’s had no problem going when she was on movicol it’s since we’ve been moved onto Laxidoe that she’s having little sheep droppings x

My little one has had chronic constipation for months related to gut issues. She was moved from movicol, then laxido, which didn’t work for her, to lactulose which gave her horrid cramps, and then to senokot, which has worked really well. However, senokot is a stimulant laxative, unlike movicol and laxido which are osmotic, and I think they’re gentler, so if the osmotic ones work, then that’s great. Has the pharmacist been able to say when/if they will be able to get the movicol in? I would try and push to get her back on that, even if it means getting the prescription and trying other pharmacies (I’ve had days where I’ve rung several to get her various meds 😅) Hope she’s able to go soon and feeling more comfortable - I know what it’s like having an unhappy bubba who needs to poop!

@Em Yeah that’s what my little girl has chronic constipation due to CMPA and she sadly can’t have lactulose due to the CMPA. I’ll be definitely ringing about as she’s not bothered by it but I don’t want her to get piles again from straining so much nor a sore bum x
