Activities

Heya, I know this has been asked a few times buy looking for some inspiration for sensory / fun activities. Today felt long as we tried soft play but was so busy for half term and it was also pretty drizzly all day so didn't want to go on a long walk. We played with boxes, balls, took the cushions off the sofa to climb on, played with toys. My little boy was OK but wasn't the most exciting day! He also only did 2 40 min naps which made the day feel longer! Nearly made 'sand' from crushed up rice crispies but think he was tired by that point. Anyone got any inspiration? Was tempted to buy the 'busy brain' cards for ideas but thought I'd ask here first. Little boy is just 9 months and neatly crawling! Thank you

An emergency foil blanket is cheap and good for scrunching. Make a ‘rain maker’ to shake with a container with a lid and dry rice. I have a storage box I fill with water and a few bath toys and she likes kneeling over it and splashing and making a mess.

Percussion instruments or a kid’s drum. Mine has recently also loved cars and those magnet tiles

Depending on what schemas they’re working on, like my little one is firmly in his containerising phase- anything that can be put in or taken out of something. So he’s having a great time with treasure baskets at the moment! A daytime bath or other water play. Music- pots and pans with wooden spoons is always a hit. Books- especially noisy, or lift the flap or textured ones.
