Can cmpa just dissapear ?

My 2.5yo suddenly seems absolutely fine with everything with milk in it (we haven’t tried yoghurt or milk on its own yet) but she hasn’t reacted to anything else?! This is a child that was throwing up 50 times a day at one point from the allergy and was hospitalised twice from having cheese given to her at her old nursery. She’s suddenly absolutely fine?! Is this normal?

Yeah most babies grow out of it x

My girl ended up just growing out of it and managing to tolerate it a lot better, she was the same as your girl! Always having to go to hospital, bad poos the lot x

Most babies do just simply grow out of it. Cows milk formula used to cause my son to have seizures and stop breathing and I'm currently looking at him guzzling a bottle of straight cows milk with no issues at all. By 13 months it had completely gone away

Most babies grow out of it by age Five. The ladder is a good way to test their tolerance. If it’s a non Ige allergy and there tolerating some dairy definitely keep it in there diet and work on slowly adding yogurt and then milk. We can tolerate yogurt but haven’t tried milk yet for my 18 month old. My oldest didn’t tolerate any dairy till 4.5 years

They do often grow out of it by the age of 5. My daughter is 9 and apart from the odd stomachache here and there when eating cheese or ice-cream she can tolerate dairy now. She was also hospitalised as a baby because of CMPA x

Yes this happens.

Yes it can my 1 year old twins had cmpa and now they dont it's like it dissapeared overnight

Thanks everyone, thought I was going crazy! We were doing the 12 step milk ladder but she refused after shepherds pie, so I decided to just try her with cheese (as she was fine when it was on shepherd pie) and she didn’t react at all. Then I gave her milk chocolate buttons, again no reaction for days. Today I’ve given her grated cheese as a snack and for lunch she’s had pasta with cheese on it, no reaction but this is the most cheese she’s ever had so we will see how that goes! After this I’m planning pizza tomorrow, then we will try yoghurt at the weekend x

Yes my son’s went away at 12 months

So lovely to hear you all say that it went away! More stories like this would be amazing to give us all hope that things will be better 🙏🏻

@Babs I think it also depends on the type of cmpa they have my son had IgE cmpa where as my twins had non-IgE so was given the go ahead with my twins to introduce milk.

@Babs this is my issue, I didn’t think it could be possible for it to just go 😂 my 13 month old still has it so it’s not like we will go straight back to dairy but its amazing that this happens. I feel like our allergy specialist told us it would just go one day, and I remember thinking she was crazy x
