Thanks @Kate for responding! That’s so great to hear it worked for you again! Congrats! Do you mind me asking how many times it took for you? And also did you have to start the process from scratch again ie loads of blood tests etc? It’s so time consuming so just wondering what I’m in for if we go ahead with it!
I have a 3 year old and 1 year old from IVF. I was lucky that we had frozen embryos and didn’t have to do another retrieval though. It’s definitely difficult emotionally and you have to try to shield your child from that which makes it more difficult. My oldest was our 2nd transfer and my youngest took 3 transfers but I’m glad I pushed through.
Currently pregnant with my second. My first transfer worked with my little boy who is now 2 and we were lucky to have 5 more frozen. Whilst preparing for transfer two it was completely different then when we transferred our first ! I was forgetting medication as I was so busy…injections was stressful because my son wanted to have ago ….it was ALOT !! We were very lucky that our second transfer worked first time too and it was a poorer grade and I had an awful sickness bug the day after transfer (threw up my meds) now currently 8 weeks. For me it was definitely harder and less exciting more stressful in our case but don’t let that put you off x
I did 3 rounds to have my baby girl who is now 17 months and I went through a 4th round 3 months ago with no success. Like someone said above, it did seem to go by faster and when that call came through, I was devastated but was thankful that I have my girl.
@S same here! All my hopes were crashed today when the lab called to let me know that I have no fertilised follicle! It is soul crashing and try to focus that I am lucky I have my boy! For me it was the last chance I have given to myself as I am already 42 :-( .
@C.P. I’m sorry to hear that. 😢 It is soul crashing, isn’t it. We’re going to try to squeeze out every dollar we have to aim for one last round beginning of next year. It might sound crazy because I’m already 43.
@C.P. Also, so much regret for not doing the 4th round 2 years ago when we only got 1 normal embryo. If I can only turn back time…I think about it everyday.
@S I know! I had the exact same thought, but we cannot turn back time :-(
Currently in third trimester with my second IVF baby right now! My first just turned 1.5 years old today. It’s not a cakewalk — as you know having gone through IVF before — but I will say it’s definitely got new challenges having a baby/toddler to take care of during it all. There’s a lot of mom guilt and stress and learning that you just can’t give as much as you want to give and that that’s okay. Your 100% will not look the same as you’ve been able to give your first while you’re in the thick of things but you’ve got to remind yourself that it’s still you giving 100%. On the bright side, the process does feel faster and the waiting that often accompanies IVF is less grueling because you’re so busy with your first. It’s a good distraction. When things get tough, you just hug your first a little harder. It’s still grief but it helps and the distraction helps. Hope this helps give a little window into what it might look like.
