I lay my baby down in the bath to wash his hair and just use my hand to get to the top bit properly. I don't stop it going over his face, although he doesn't get a lot on him doing it this way. He used to let me use a jug but since we changed bath seat to a bath mat he doesn't like it 🤦🏻♀️ x
We learnt from swimming lessons to let baby know water is about to go on their face by always saying *babys name** READY GOOOO he soon learnt to close eyes when he heard that phrase. We actively encourage sprinkling water on our baby’s face during bath time, he loves it and just laughs now.
I find using a sponge for the first go helps as its not as much water and then she knows its coming and I dont really try and stop it after that as shes got used to it which is good long term!
@Lucy thank you, this is really helpful. Has he learnt to shut his mouth too when you pour the water? My son always swallows and coughs on the water 😢
Yes he has, never chokes or coughs when gets dunked under
We use a water jug and let it go in his face, he isn’t bothered by it now and we wanted to make sure he wasn’t scared of getting his face wet
I don’t stop the water going in his face. I did that with my older ones and they were terrified of water used to be a nightmare if we went swimming or was on holiday and they had to have a shower! I just tip the water over and wash it with my boy he doesn’t even react and I always splash with him and play with the water so he’s not frightened of it going in his face will be easier for him when he starts swimming lessons if he’s not afraid of getting his face wet
