Sudden reflux and painful crying

Hi mums, Looking for support, experience and/or advice. I think our little guy has reflux. He’s almost 10 weeks. Today I ate quite a bit of spicy food, and a coffee late in the day. I don’t remember the last solid feed but around 8:40pm he went from relaxed overall to scream crying. He only ever cried like this after his vaccines. It was horrible. I gave him some Ovol, checked to make sure his diaper wasn’t too tight, looked him over head to toe. Eventually he fell asleep. He woke up and was smiling and chatty. My partner did bicycle kicks while I comforted him. About 20 minutes later it started again. He was on his back and started to "choke" on a bit of spit up so I got him upright and then came the tears again. At a couple points he seemed to want to suckle but wouldn’t. He wouldn’t eat from my boob and neither a bottle. Eventually he fell asleep upright in my arms. He’s laying on his back beside me now, snoring like a log. Was this normal? He seemed to be in a lot of pain, and never crys like this. I feel horrible - like my breast milk made him ill or something. I’m also pretty anxious so I’m really worried now. I almost went to emerge. Any advice or experience welcome 💕 thanks everyone xo

Yeah, chilli/spicy food gave both my kids colic/reflux as newborns. I just avoided eating it while breastfeeding. Don't beat yourself up. You didn't know. Some babies are totally fine with chilli.

Keep an eye on it and see if it repeats with or without spicy food. Could also be an upset tummy that's unrelated. We had sensitivities but it was because my little one was sensitive to cow milk and I didn't realize the pattern room 6 months to cut it out of my diet. Based on one time it should be a lot of things but if it repeats... At least spicy food is not horrible to have to limit for awhile.

I had this issue with my son around 3-4 months. Except it was specifically with the pumpkin cream cold brew from Starbucks. Even a size small set him off! Worth avoiding for his comfort 🖤
