CMPA and reflux

My baby is being prescribed milk to trial for suspected CMPA. Been to the docs in regards to his constipation and reflux and other symptoms but due to the reflux they don’t want to give gaviscon hence why they’re giving him the milk as it can apparently cause constipation. I’ve read up on so many different people’s experiences with the milk for CMPA and says it makes reflux worse. I’m SO anxious to start it tomorrow incase it makes my 8wo worse than he is. He’s screaming in agony when trying to burp and when I lie him down, we’ve tried infacol etc and nothing works to help him. I’m such a worrier and anxious first time mum. I cry when the baby is crying when he’s being burped because it kills me to see him in pain?! Should I request anything extra from the docs like a thickener etc or do I just give the milk a go and hope for the best?

My daughter had the same problem and they said she was failure to thrive. After a month in children's hospital they put her on elecare and gave her a prescription for pepcid. She still had spells for a bit, bit at almost 9 months old now she's night and day better than she was.

You can request omerprazle which can help with reflux but same as the milk can take up.to 6 weeks to help Omerprazle helps to reduce the acid in babies tummy but yoi will need regular checkups on weight to up the dosage Many people also use carobel which can cause constipation bur doesn't in most babies that can be brought on amazon or even pharmacy's I believe Infacol aggravates reflux so will make it worse so we used dentinox when my girl had problems with wind

My little one was in agony. Didn’t suffer with reflux but didn’t burp or anything. The milk really helped. Infacol didn’t but Grip water was actually a god send when it came to her gas. She 6 months now and we occasionally use it if she gets a bit gassy and it sorts her out right away x

Our girl is now 10 months and the cmpa formulas did make her reflux worse! We trialled everything … Gaviscon made her constipated and didn’t help loads with pain from reflux as she also had silent reflux … omeprazole I didn’t notice helped either so didn’t warrant using it … we then started using carobel which was trial and error to get it right now it changed her and really helped keep her milk down and the pain it was causing! It’s such a hard time but I promise it gets easier ❤️
