Water!

Hello 👋 little one is now 7 months, she has started solids and is formula fed, the health visitor has said about giving water, I have been offering this in a sippy cup the last month, however I don’t think she’s actually drinking much! I’m aware there supposed to only have a few oz a day, but she’s taking less than this! How much water are your babies having and how are you offering!? Thankyou x

I fill a cup with 3 ounces at the start of the day and let him sip each meal time and some days he finishes the lot and some days there’s a bit left!

I also fill a cup with 2 oz a day and if it’s drank it’s drank if not it’s not. My little one has really taken to a straw cup and picked up drinking from it very quickly after about 3-4 goes

I fill the cup and I hold it to make sure they have some sips, then I let them drink it freely themselves to encourage independence- they take a few more sips then start to spit it out and bash the cup. I think they probably have about 3 oz a day.

I don't think my little boy has more than 2ozs in a day usually. I offer it frequently enough that he gets what he wants. I wouldn't worry too much about not giving a full 3ozs just yet, just keep offering. Every baby is different and 3oz is a very generic guideline, some babies will need/want that much and others won't x

My LO will drink a bit then spit it straight out. We joke that she’ll be a wine taster when she’s older. I’m not worried

I really wouldn’t worry about it too much we only offer with meals but actually you don’t need to be offering water at all, so try not to worry about it xx
