My baby is 3 weeks on Saturday and we haven’t bathed him yet! We were going to do it today but didn’t get around to it so will do it tomorrow 🤗 we wanted the cord to fall off and completely heal before doing it so there’s no chance of infection x
the hospital bathed my baby almost 24 hours after her birth and again the next day before we were discharged, she had 1 or 2 baths at home before her cord fell off. just made sure we dried it completely after each bath and it was fine 🤷♀️
The same day back from hospital and every nite since then. We both slept like babies. Nice to be cleaned and cozy on your on pjs
Sponge bath a few times starting 3 days after birth. But no full, soaking baths until his umbilical cord healed
Our lg's cord fell off on day 4, we were told to wait 24 hours then we could give her a bath with just water and to pat it dry but to leave it alone otherwise. We waited till day 6 and it has healed absolutely fine. We did give her top and tail baths with warm water and a soft bamboo cloth before that and just avoided the cord (particularly helpful when she was passing meconium and then when she had massive poos)
Same day, that new born baby smell is weird to my nasal receptors!
I bathed my little one nearly three weeks later! Her umbilical cord was still attached for two weeks so I gave her the occasional clean with a sponge and flannel but not a full blown bath. I had a c section so wanted to give it to her when I knew I’d be able to hold her/lift her ❤️
I gave my baby boy a wash over with cotton balls and warm water and then put baby lotion on for his dry skin as I didn’t want to bath him until his cord dropped off xxx
Thank you all! 💕💕 I’ll wait a bit more than to give her a bath! For now, I clean her with cotton balls and warm water
I think it was about 8 weeks x
As soon as her cord fell off at 2weeks.My midwife had advised to wait until fell off as more prone to infection if do when still on incase you can't get into dry properly or catch at it but everyone will tell you differently just do what you think is best :)
Around 4 weeks or so, wanted to prolong the baby smell 😍 Just did cotton wool & warm water before that to keep her creases clean x
4 weeks old
About a week after birth, my midwife & HV said you don’t need to wait for the cord to fall off, by 2 weeks old it was part of our nightly routine x

10 days! That was when her cord fell off 😊
One week, then the cord fell off on day 9 so we could give a better bath
I waited a month, I did top and tails. But tried to keep as much of the vernix on as possible. I had an early csection so I wanted her to get the best out of what I had given. She was absolutely covered in the stuff where she was early.
We are at 2 weeks and still haven't, cord has fallen off, just waiting for the occasional bleeding to stop and for it to completely heal before we do.
10 days after birth! The moment the cord fell off!
The day after she got home as I swore I could smell blood on her 😂 We just made sure we dried around the cord. It didn't affect it drying up/falling off and we had no infection. Totally understand people waiting though
