Pain relief

Hello, anyone here who plans to use TENS machine or has done it for their pain relief during labour? I don’t really want an epidural or any sort of drugs. Just wondering how was the experience, did it helped you?

I used it for my first and for my baby that was born yesterday. It was the only form of pain relief I used and I found it fantastic!

Loved the TENS machine with my first, so so so helpful for the early stages but I still used it up until pushing, after that my husband took it off me so I could focus. I have rented one for my second too x

I havent laboured yet so no idea how it will be - but I know that the advice is to put it on earlier rather than later. I've been told to put it on when the contractions start to be hard to concentrate through and then increase the tens machine flow as needed as things progress. It apparently works better if it has time to build up.

It’s the only pain relief I used last time along with paracetamol. So glad I got it. I got boots own brand. Used it until I got to hospital and had to start pushing straight away. It definitely helped x

@Allie Thanks for all your responses. Do you mind sharing which brand did you guys use please?

I rented mine from birth ease x

I bought mine, was boots own brand. If you can find a machine to borrow you can just get replacement pads for it. Good luck with labor!

Thanks all for the suggestions 🫶🏼🌸

I had the boots own one which I brought with my first. I found it very good early labour, particularly when in car to hospital. It was still on at the end of my birth, but by then I couldn’t even feel it 🤣 Then I’ve been lending to my best friends so it was worth the cost! Have my new pads ready for baby no 2

@Emily which one do you have please? There 2 different ones on boots

I had the £42 one. I’ve just bought the replacement pads for this time x

This one 😀

@Emily which one of the two did you get? There’s digital one and I think the other one isn’t?

I hired one for 6 weeks from Babycare TENS for about £30. Haven’t had to use it yet, but they post it out at 37 weeks and you send it back after. Mine arrived about a week ago and I have tested it on my arm, seems to work fine and has good reviews! https://babycaretens.com/products/elle-tens-6-week-hire.html
