@Hannah I think this is the problem, I’m avoiding dealing with the absolute meltdowns when it goes off and I’ll be the first to admit I’m so terrible at sticking to things when I’ve said no. The garden does help but I just find his attention span for things is so short then we come back in and he refuses to play with toys, just whines and cries for the telly. I think I’d be better and sticking to “no” if I had something more exciting to offer him… might look for more sticker books 😂😂
I would also try and actually avoid the word "no", just don't talk about it if that makes sense. Don't say "no more TV" etc, I get my little girl to say bye bye when it goes off and then I put the remote out of sight. But unfortunately their attention span is short and TV will only shorten it more so it's a vicious cycle!
@Hannah yes, we do say byebye and that does help, and I think you’re so right with the word “no”, that just tips him over the edge! I’m not totally against the tv but I certainly feel we could do with much less of it at the minute.
brainbowchild messybunmotherhood heyazka stayathomeactivitymom Those are a couple insta accounts I follow. I have a lot of activity ideas I love them. My son is also Dec 2022.
@Chloe that’s great - at the minute I can’t imagine him engaging in an activity like that, I think he’ll look at me and wander off 😂 but I’m hoping if we persevere it’ll improve and he’ll start doing things like this. Oh my gosh I’ve just ordered a play sink a few days ago actually because he also loves water!! Waiting for it to be delivered 🤞🏻
@Elizabeth thank you I will take a look
And it means I got to get Pringle’s and tell my husband it was for an activity 😂
I try to manage this by only having it on at a certain time for a certain amount of time and by golly does it not go back on, regardless of the reaction (that is key!) If I'm struggling to distract I try to take my LO outside or at least put of the room to break the cycle. If he likes the sticker book, run with it!
