Why is my breastfed baby so gassy and hard to burp ?!

I thought breastfed babies didn’t need to be burped much but my 3week old really struggles with gas and it’s so hard to burp her! The latch is perfect according to midwives even though she makes clicking sounds inside her mouth while drinking. We don’t use bottles. She also drinks fast and sometimes blows out milk from struggling to handle the flow- could that cause it? Could it be something in my diet? I would love if anyone could share their opinion on this xx

Mine does the same. It’s from how fast she drinks and the fact I have good flow. Most of the midwives I’ve spoken to have all said breastfed babies still need burping x

I'm in the exact same position! I've had 2 children now who i have breastfed and had terrible gas/wind. Not a latch issue and my supply flow and flow is good. My midwife has said its a bit of a myth that breastfed babies don't need burping. The only things I have found to help is keeping him as upright as possible through a feed, I even burp in the middle of feeding if he is struggling. And we keep him upright after feeds for around 10-20 mins. Still doesn't completely solve the problem, but helps! The good thing is they do grow out of it, my 3year old was a lot better by 12 weeks! Difficult while you're in it though I know! All the best ♥️

Mines exactly the same, also 3 weeks. My first son wasn't like this at all!

Echo what Poppy said ^^ 2 breastfed guzzling kids, a strong let down, no latch issue and bad wind. It’s been worse with my son to the point I gave him Infacol to help him. After a couple weeks, I noticed he had spontaneously made huge improvements in passing wind so now I’m mainly sticking to mid feed burps as it seems he may be growing out of it but I did try him on bottles to see if that helped to control the speed of his drinking and that was helpful. I hope your LO feels better soon xx

3.5 weeks EBF and exactly the same 😴
