Feed, vomit, feed cycle?? :( help

I’m seriously loosing it. My 2 week old is absolutely ravenous at night. I express milk and he’s taking about 100ml each time. At night he can scream as if he hasn’t eaten 45 minutes after a feed. I try everything just incase it’s not hunger but then he’s rooting. I’ll then feed him again but then 30 seconds into it, he’ll projectile vomit. Then continues crying because now his belly is empty. It’s a vicious cycle and I don’t know what to do. It seems like he’s also really struggling with gas and potentially reflux. I don’t know if this is contributing to the above

Aww I’m sorry! Do you have access to a lactation consultant? Thats what I would suggest… 2weeks in is soooo HARD!! I would time how long he’s feeding so you can talk to the consultant about it.. they also might want to check your diet. My LO has just started vomiting occasionally, when over eating, so I get it. It’s exhausting for both of us. Also try gas drops, if you think he has gas..

Hello! I'd go to the GP as the projectile vomiting sounds like something may possibly not be sitting right in his tum, could be reflux but with it being projectile I'm not sure so probs best to discuss it with someone. I think babies projectile vomit when they've over eaten or if they're intolerant to something etc. does he have any other symptoms like rash, loose stools, excess gas? Is he maintaining his weight? Deffo go to the GP, but feeding assessment might be helpful. At mine it was more about the latch and information on feeding 'timescales' although the consensus is to responsively feed. do you pace feed? Parallel bottle, teat half full? Have you got slow flow teats? Baby might also benefit from a side laying position, having them tilted to the left opens the stomach valve and helps it go down easier. Also keep him sat up for 30 mins after if you think it may be reflux before laying flat xx

It sounds like a cluster feed time to me! Around 2 weeks they have a growth spurt (you can Google when they happen so you are prepared next time) and they just go crazy about feeds! My baby last week, on his 2 weeks old mark was feeding ALL NIGHT every 30 mins. It lasted just one night tho. It drives your crazy, but it will pass soon x

As previously mentioned make sure you are pace feeding . Rooting can be in search for comfort as well(because is hurting, or need it for sleep). I had this with my first and I thought he is non stop hungry but he actually vomited because of underdeveloped digestive system, had reflux and allergies - we had CMPA and egg allergy. There is no reliable way to test for allergies or intolerance at this age but to actually try it via diet - GP was only giving us gaviscon (can give constipation) and omeprazole - which have helped but is only treating the symptoms not the cause(but speak with your GP fist to see what they recommend). We managed to get to a good pediatrician and he recommended excluding diary, egg, soy, red meat and wheat as I was breastfeeding (if giving formula there are formulas for allergies I think neocate is one of them). Then reintroducing them one by one. Note if giving breast milk you can observe if it is working only after 1-2 weeks and you might need 6 weeks if CMPA.
