Sperm can live inside for up to 5 days inside of us. Your period was too soon after the session for you to know if you’re pregnant or not. You may be, which will only show up on your next period when that is missed.
Plan B is to be used on an exceptional basis. It can have disastrous consequences on your health and reproduction. Regarding your question, I’m not sure but you can call your pharmacy to ask they’re usually very helpful
Yes like others have said I would really not rely on emergency contraception. That being said, I’d imagine as your cycle has begun, then you had already passed the fertile window when you did the deed.
you can ovulate during your period! i would definitely take plan b but also tell him to start pulling out. plan b is terrible to be taking regularly. or go on the pill or some form of birth control
@Bianca the pull out method is also a terrible idea 😂 x
@sarah my bf and I did the pull out method for 6 years and I never got pregnant! It’s not bad as long as he knows when to time it!
@Niya that maybe the case for you but for many others it’s not. Plus not forgetting the small chance of precum causing a pregnancy. I feel like this lady would benefit from condoms or another form of proper birth control if she’s not ready or wanting to get pregnant again
@sarah oh no I’m not taking away from anything your saying bc yes u can still conceive from precum I still feel like thts still a low chance I’m jus saying pulling out would be way better then popping a plan b after each time if not trying to put birth control in your body. Thats jus my opinion but absolutely condoms & or a form of birth control would dead this whole conversation for sure!
@Patience plan b isn’t messing up my hormones any more than what birth control was. Tried several options too. Plan B has worked for me in terms of not getting pregnant. This isn’t something that happens all of the time maybe once every few months.
@Parker 又 I’ve been on birth control in the past and it has affected me mentally more than taking a plan B ever has. Plan B is as you said an emergency contraceptive I’m not using it as birth control and taking it every day or every week. It is expensive but taking one every few months isn’t breaking my bank or anything. 90% of the time we use condoms.
It's a tad bit dangerous to keep using it as contraception.
@sarah it’s better than getting a whole load in you
Pretty sure plan b only works a handful of times and then stops being effective. A coil is a hormonal free birth control option if you want to have sex without condoms. That said if you just got your period you’re probably ok. Would also recommend you start cycle tracking if you’re regular. If you are very regular you should be able to avoid getting pregnant if you cycle track effectively and use condoms on the days around your ovulation
Since I'm using this app I found it quite surprising how many women don't understand how their cycle works....incognito, if your period started that mean you weren't in your fertility window, so you passed ovulation, risk to be pregnant is low (but not 0% neither).....you could still use a plan b of you really font want to risk it, but you should be fine. However, I would look for a better contraceptive method, knowing your cycle and fertility window is one thing too. You can check for copper IUD or condoms for non hormonal method

Incog it’s your life, we don’t control you at all. We are just sharing info for ya. https://www.health.com/condition/birth-control/plan-b-usage
@Bianca um pretty sure you can’t ovulate while on your period but I will find out lol
@Julie it’s not super common, but it’s not impossible
Birth control is more damaging that plan b 😂 ppl be thinking all you are doing is taking plan b every week 😂😂😭😭😭🤦🏻♀️🤦🏻♀️💀
@Julie you can!! i have pcos and when i was trying to conceive the only time i ovulated for 3 months straight was during my period:)
@Patience since when? Plan b is synthetic hormones…. Like birth control. It doesn’t become less effective.
@Bianca noooooo noooo how!!! Omfg 😭 I didn’t know! So I researched it too and if you are irregular or have a short cycle it could happen… how tragic lol 😂
@Patience I just researched it and it doesn’t say that… It’s only less effective the longer you wait to take it after having sex.
@Patience oh no worries! I
Girl you don’t have to get on BC but pleeeease start tracking your cycle. Plan B is not BC. Look into FAM, it changed everything 🩷🙏🏻
wtf plan b isn’t birth control.
@Bianca what’s better is getting none in you. If you’re using the pull out method you may as well just take the load. It’s not an effective form of birth control and if you went to a healthcare professional and they asked you what birth control you were using if any and you said pull out method. They’d be giving you a look that’s for sure
@sarah that’s silly i just went for my yearly physical and because birth control doesn’t work for me i told them i use the withdrawal method no condoms and they said that was safe as long as you’re careful. i agree none is best but not every man has precum nor is precum always enough to get you pregnant. no matter what birth control you use abstinence is obviously the only 100% effective way.
@Bianca it’s not silly at all..if you’re raw dogging then there’s a higher risk of pregnancy. Yes there’s a risk of pregnancy on forms of birth control but at least you took proper precautions to prevent. That nurse probably didn’t say anything as you’re an adult with children already who can support another baby if one were to happen. But let me ask you something..would you tell your child to use the pull out method as an effective form of birth control? I really hope you wouldn’t..if you wouldn’t ask your child to do it..then it’s not safe. I definitely think if your child went in for a check up and said I use the pull out method as a form of birth control..there would be a different reaction.
@sarah The pull out method is not 100% effective but certainly not comparable to “taking the load” In fact it’s highly effective if done correctly and for extra safety, tracking your cycle can also provide more protection from getting pregnant. Of course not everyone can get it right that’s why it’s not very reliable for some. I’ve never used any form of hormonal contraception before, I track my cycle and I’ve been fine so far with those.

@sarah i think we lost the topic somewhere along the way i’m not saying it’s the best option but it is still much better than what the original poster said they’re doing😂 if my son grows up and wants to rely on the pull out method that is none of my business i will inform him of the other types of birth control and how girls get pregnant but i can’t hold him down and put a condom on him. i’ve always been honest with my doctors about not using birth control and using withdrawal even as a teenager and i’ve never gotten a funny look or a talking to🤷🏻♀️birth control doesn’t work for everyone just like the pull out method doesn’t work for you. to each their own!
@Izzy yesss!! cycle tracking is the best in my opinion i order bulk ovulation tests on amazon🥰
Use condoms or get none hormonal birth control. Plan B is extremely damaging for your body. Also doesn’t work if you already start to ovulate. There is a a chance you could get pregnant at any time of the month , it is never 0%.
It’s CRAZY to me how many women don’t know that you can get pregnant just as easily on PRE CUM which he will not feel. The pull out method does not work. If you haven’t gotten pregnant doing it then it’s pure luck or you have fertility problems.
@Helen Telling a woman she has fertility issues because she hasn’t gotten pregnant using a certain method is CRAZY. Like I said before, if done CORRECTLY and you know your fertile window the chances of getting pregnant are low. Because not everyone gets it right it’s not reliable for everyone. The range of effectiveness is anywhere between 78%-96% based on how “perfectly” it’s done. And hey, it’s not for everyone.
You should take it just to be sure.
Not only is plan b an emergency contraceptive, & everything else @Patience already said; it’s also expensive to keep buying. I’d highly suggest looking into a form of actual birth control (pill, patch, iud, etc) or condoms. It’s just cheaper & more peace of mind. However yeah if it’s been more than 72 hours there’s nothing plan b could do for ya
