@Morgan you might know it’s a continent but do Americans in general know that? You have a bad reputation for being terrible at geography 😅
People say America as though it’s not two continents with multiple countries but to be fair I always assume they mean USA. The Europe thing is interesting because I expect more specifics like Eastern Europe or something. We aren’t that bright over here though.
@Zainab🗝️ I can definitely see why some people say America because the name of the country is united states of America and that’s just too long
I say Europe bc i literally mean anywhere in Europe i would be down for 😂🫶
I've never met someone who is that dumb. It's a stereotype. I'm sure people in the UK, where I assume you're from aren't perfect at geography either.
@Morgan the stereotype had to come from somewhere 🤷🏻♀️ js
@Morgan This 100%!! I hear majority of people say "I want to go to America" also. Saying they want to go to Europe really shouldn't bother someone so easily, as you said you're not about to name all the places in Europe mid convo lol
@R 🪬 I don’t say that but I can get on board when people say they wanna go to America referring themselves to USA because it’s literally the name of the country and since United States of America is way too big, I kinda understand it
This is literally the most stupid thing to care about.
@Amber if I’m only going to the USA for holidays I will say “I’m going to New York or LA” or whatever. If I’m visiting more than one country in America then I’d say “I’m going to the US, Brazil and Colombia”. I won’t just say I’m going to America referring myself to 3 different countries
I think other foreigners refer to the “Americas” like all the americas, i feel like you thinking America = USA is like the same thing about Europe kinda lol
@Morgan if you don’t like the post, then don’t comment. Simple as that 😂
Maybe it's just they want to go somewhere in Europe but don't have a preference where or they have multiple on a list

With everything going on at the moment this seems so petty 😂
@Rosie I’m sick of politics for today if that’s what you mean
As an Australian I can’t stand when people hate this? It’s a 24 hour flight to get to anywhere in Europe from Australia. If we’re going there, we’re making the most of it and where staying for months and travelling to multiple different countries so if someone was to ask where we are travelling to, we wouldn’t list every single country, it could be 10 countries that we’re visiting over the few months that were there so we just say “Europe”. Everyone knows that you’ll be going to England, France, Greece, Italy, Amsterdam etc. we don’t need to be specific. Ugh!
I hear people say "south america" & "africa" the same way...but I don't think they don't know there are many countries there. I think it's just a general reference to a part of the world. 🤷♀️
Actually stop with this shit. I’ve argued with someone on here about this before. It’s so dumb. You live in Europe end of story.
@Chelsea then you just say you’ll be visiting multiple countries in Europe. What if I say “I’d love to go to Oceania”? I mean 😅
@Chelsea alright calm down, you commented because you wanted to. I didn’t force you
You can’t control how people look at the world. If they actually don’t know that it’s not a country then fine, they’re stupid but people referring to it as Europe is not a big deal.
@Laura which is equally bad in my opinion. “Oh I’m going to Africa” okay great, which country? Are you visiting Morocco or Kenya? I need to know the exact vibe 😂
No you would say Australia because it’s a continent
@Chelsea for an Australian, you very aggressive 😂 I thought you were meant to be chilled people
@Chelsea in my country Australia is a country and Oceania is a continent
What’s aggressive is why you’re so mad at that in the first place. Well it’s not so that’s just how you look at it.
If we’re making the trip, we are probably visiting multiple countries 🤷🏽♀️

@Chelsea you’re the one getting your knickers in a twist 😂 Well, in my country it is how it works so 🤷🏻♀️
when people say that i just assume they want to travel to multiple places in Europe
That just means they want to travel Europe. No need to get bothered. Most people do "do Europe" travel to 3-6 different countries.
Also it makes YOU sound ignorant when you compare the COUNTRIES in Europe to the STATES of America
Instead of being bothered by it, use it as a conversation starter. They're probably wanting to talk about their upcoming or past trip
@Chelsea off topic but also on topic. It's crazy that you can say Australia, and it can mean the continent, the country, or a state. My mind was blown when I learned that in school 😂
@Ella I half-read it and didn't notice that comparison until you pointed it out, I find it funny because all my UK friends have expressed wanting to visit America or the USA, they've never specified which states unless asked 😅😆
Wow so much hate and negativity for nothing
@Kylie you can't say Australia to mean a state 😜 all our states have their own names
@Ella Isn't there a South Australia or something? I know it's not just Australia, but I'd still consider it being called Australia. But I definitely could be wrong. I have no actual clue. Please give me all your knowledge
@Kylie 🤣 yes I live in South Australia. Half the states are VERY unimaginatively named South Australia Western Australia Northern territory New South Wales The others are Victoria Queensland Tasmania Plus the ACT.
😂 why do you care so much about this ? It just seems so trivial
Honestly; not something I’ve ever batted an eyelid at If someone says they want to visit Europe I automatically think traveling and more mainland than the U.K. I don’t get annoyed because ‘it’s a continent’ I’m sure people are aware! The same way when people say I’m going America they’re not naming the state! Worse is when the news presenters refer to ‘africa’ as if it’s a country it ain’t and you’re news presenters who should absolutely know that Also I don’t think it’s just Americans who do this 🙄
Guys when people say they’re going to the USA they are referring to the country not the whole continent. It’s different than saying they’re going to Europe and refer to Europe as a country, which is not! These comments just goes to prove my point 😂 I don’t care that the USA is big or whatever, it’s still a COUNTRY not a whole continent
It’s annoying when people refer to something culturally specific they notice in Europe.. babe Britain and France are two very different places 😅 but also Americans tend to visit a few places in Europe so I get it. Maybe if they said continental Europe? I also just say America if I’m talking about visiting, mainly because I’m open to going anywhere in America and generally because people just don’t care 🤷🏼♀️

@Rosie this is my post, if you don’t like it keep scrolling 🥰
Umm I’m going to America in August. It’s more annoying when people assume we’re not part of Europe because of brexit. Neither is Iceland or Norway part of the EU but they are still in Europe.
Nah, doesn’t bother me. I know plenty of people here who’ve said “I’m travelling to Asia”… like where? I just assume it’s multiple places. When my family come over they “visit Europe”. They usually make a big thing of it and go to 3/4 countries whilst over here.
Fair enough! Enjoy xx
It's fine until I ask where in europe and they say the usual places. Or they seem to actually not realise that Europe isn't a country.
People say they want to go to America all the time. It never has bothered me. This has been explained on this app 1000 times. People say they're going to Europe because when Americans go or anyone else they usually go to many countries. Like when I went i went to Italy, Slovenia, Germany, Spain, and the UK. So it's much easier to say "I'm going to europe" than to list every country. I will elaborate if someone asks but I'm not going to ramble off every country. When i did just go to Italy, i said that I'm going to italy. We know it's a continent. Chill.
