We always go out the house at least once a day, either to the park or to groups. It’s worth checking your local library for rhyme time style groups, local churches often do play sessions etc. Definitely see what’s on in your local area, we’re in a really small town and still have lots to do. If there are no groups on then we’ll go to the park or for a walk. I find this helps us to stay busy 🥰 At home we have toys that we rotate, colouring, painting, sometimes baking, lots of reading. X
Also singing the nursery rhymes and doing the actions that your LO likes from Ms Rachel, playing music on a speaker, or we also have the tonie box that she uses to listen to music too x
I just wanted to ask as well do u keep the tv on in the background for yourself or of you have any other kids to they watch tv. Or… do u keep tv off?
I don’t have the tv on when I’m home. We don’t have other kids. My husband will put the tv on but it will be sports. If I am at someone’s house and they have the tv on then I leave it on. I wouldn’t ask them to turn it off. But lots of the time my family knows she doesn’t watch television so don’t usually have it on. My mum has her twice a week and she doesn’t put the tv on either when she has her. The do lots of music with the Alexa, toys, walks to the park.
My son was older but towards the end of my pregnancy I leaned on the TV more than I would have liked and then once I was back to fighting form I got rid. Honestly I just turned it off and that was that. In terms of your days going forward dividing them up always helps - reading time, singing time, blocks time, hide and seek time, creative time whatever you do at home. Also rotate toys, keep boxes and every 2ish weeks swap the toys around, keeps it fresh
I haven’t tried to reduce screen time as I didn’t introduce it. But tips for helping with things to entertain a toddler. - play in different rooms, so we will play in the morning in her room, and then go downstairs and she will wander about or I have a large playpen that I can put her in. - go out. I usually have to go out to a class or soft play. Or even to the park. She loves being outside. - she has different toys and she will play in her own a times. Usually enough for me to have a shower and get ready or tidy up. - I’m also trying to get her more involved in household activities. Got a step ladder and she likes to stand on it next to me. Even baked cakes with her. Or she likes to push the hoover with me.
