Going out alone with your babies

Hello Moms! I was wondering if any of y’all are scared to go out alone with your babies? Even if it’s a small stroller ride? I get so scared walking alone with my daughter even if it’s down the block to grab some coffee :/ I have to wait for my husband to come home to go out just because of how scary the world is now.

Heyyyy, i can relate actually I started going out with my baby alone since she was 7weeks old just short trips yes in the beginning I was terrified driving and going out alone but now feels totally natural. Just take it slowly, small steps Short walks short drives and built up your confidence.

It is scary just because nowadays you can’t trust anyone… my neighbor is “ safe” so it’s not so bad but I do wait for my man to get home to do a lot other stuff outside of home

Hey mama, I feel the same way sometimes, specially going to the grocery store with my toddler hence why I order online then pick up. I try walking but only with my partner. I take my lo to the park only midday and avoid going out at night unless I’m with hubby A mother’s intuition is strong so do what you have to for your lo’s protection Call me crazy but idc, I always carry a big hair spray and a small knife In the car & everywhere I go because you just never know 🫤

This is so incredibly sad. I don’t feel that way at all where I live.

Yep I feel the same either wait for my mum or friend to come out with me x

Same. I’m paranoid.

Sometimes. We have lots of workers where we live so I rarely go for walks in the neighborhood. Out in public is a different story. Just stay aware and ignore people who stop you. I don’t like when people are like “aww what’s their name?!” I lie every time

I relate to this 100%! Ever since becoming a mom in 2020, I have severe anxiety with going out in public alone with my child. I used to take walks and my mind would instantly go to the worst and it freaks me out, now going out in public to a store, restaurant, etc. I get anxiety and worked up because I’m afraid of being watched and judged, due to my child not listening, because all us moms with a toddler relate to the fact they don’t always listen. 🫠 but it’s one of my biggest problems as a mom. 😭😭😭

I be terrified sometimes. Mostly because I watch entirely too much tv. But as a woman with two littles, I’m constantly scanning, looking over my shoulder, looking for someone I can look to for help if I don’t feel safe, and being skeptical of every person who looks at or speaks about my kids… there’s some sick people in the world and it make it so hard for us to just be the mothers we want to be and maintain the little bit of sanity we have left

Yep!

I definitely feel this often. However I notice the longer I stay in the house it does get worse. Take baby steps to go out, like going for short walks or even just sitting outside of your house. When I go out I am extremely alert and somewhat anxious but it does get better.

Yes that’s me I haaaate it but I’m a single mama so I have to. I carry spray that’s how paranoid I am

It probably depends on where you live, but I don't feel this way at all. We go for walks around the neighborhood almost every day and I take the baby to the grocery store, Target, library, etc. two or three times a week.

More just when I go shopping cause I have to go to a different bigger town but I carry so 🤷‍♀️ but in my town I’m not very worried. Usually I just keep a knife on me

I would feel the same way in LA!! Have you guys ever thought about moving? Come check out Monterey for a weekend, it’s a small town and feels extremely safe to walk around the neighborhoods

I want to move but my husband wants to be by his family 😫

Fell the same way also carry spray with me as a single mum . This time year the worst as hey dark so early and is cold so tend not to get to take my Lo one out as much unless needed.

I only felt this way when I was pregnant just cuz I know I couldn’t defend myself properly I’d b worried she’d get hurt. But now that she’s out of my tummy I don’t fear it. That’s only cuz I have a first degree black belt been in self defense classes since the age of 9-28 so I can defend myself with out a doubt so I have zero fear going anywhere. I used to walk at night around my neighborhood cuz it’s really safe but when preg I used to make my husband come with me

Hey! Mom of 3 (almost4) here. I feel like this is a completely normal fear as a first time mom. I never went anywhere I feel like with my first. I got more comfortable with my 2nd and by the time I had 3 we all needed to get out of the house so that trumped any fear I had lol I have always lived in a rural/small town area so definitely different than CA but looking back I wished I would’ve gotten out more with my first 2. It’s so good for your mental health and even for baby to get some fresh air and learn their surroundings

I’m sorry to read this. That sounds like it can get isolating and nerve wrecking. I don’t personally feel this way. Is it your neighborhood or a general angst about the world at large?

Carry pepper spray or one of those personal safety alarms (i think the brand is birdie) if it makes you feel safer and start small by just getting comfortable walking around the area you live in. it’s important for you and your baby to get out of the house.

It can be but danger can happen any where … when it was me and my oldest when hubby was over the road we were everywhere… I keep a knife on me , say my prayers before leaving out … even when hubs took us to a different state with him I kept my head on a swivel…
