Worried mum :(

Feeding my 9 day old newborn and she has started to breath like this and wheeze after a feed, is this normal or should I be worried ? Any advice would be helpful.

Give 111 a call, they’ll be best placed to advise you. Hope little one is okay x

Agree with Kayleigh, call 111 x

Is it temporary and then breathing regulates? Newborns have random breathing that doesn't have a rhythm sometimes

Like everyone said best to double check with 111 but my son did this all the time from birth. I asked in the hospital and they said newborns can just breathe funny sometimes. Xx

Aww what a cutie. Contact 111 for some reassurance. I hope all is well. Please keep us updated x

I just remembered because your baby is still less than 28 days old you can call the midwife helpline of your hospital trust. It will be quicker than 111

Thanks, I’ve called 111 and waiting for doctor to ring me back

I think calling 111 would be better. Just incase.

You could never be too sure always go with your instincts. Call 111 xx

A&E or like others suggested 111 x

Could just be she’s laying. Lay her a bit more flat with her spine and neck equal to each other Maybe also needs a burp with every once. Seems like ages ago when we were burping my boy with every ounce. And now he goes a whole bottle 😫😫

Her breathing looks quite shallow. Is her chest sucking in when she breaths? I had this when my baby was 10 days old and he was admitted with bronchiolitis. I'd getting her checked to be on the safe side

@Bronwen how are you all getting on? Xx

My 3 week old boy started with this and we’ve later figured it could be a sign of silent reflux. My midwife wasn’t worried about it as it went away shortly after feeding finished each time. He still gets it and it takes him a bit longer to regulate his breathing after feeding almost like he needs a minute to catch his breath. Our doctor agreed that this along with other symptoms sounded like silent reflux. It would be great if you could let us know when your doctor said. I hope your little one is ok!

We took her to the OOH GP and they said that it was the start of a cold/ viral infection. We’ve been told to stay in for a couple days and no visitors.
