Struggling to pass stool

My daughter is 7 weeks old, and from around 2 weeks old she’s been struggling to poo(I know this is normal because she doesn’t know how to do it then) but she is constantly screaming trying to trust, I contacted the drs about it, and they prescribed laxatives to put in her bottle everyday, but I don’t think that is normal to give a baby laxatives everyday, she has constant stomach ache ,even when giving them to her, she’s still constantly screaming for hours everyday when trying to poo. I was on cow and gate to start off with and now I’ve changed to aptamil , Has anyone experienced this ?

What kind of milk is she on? Have you thought of changing the milk

My second daughter was like this. Turned out she was allergic to cows milk so had to change her full formula to a dairy free and allergy free milk which was prescribed to her from the doctors until she turned 12 months. My daughter would scream and cry for hours on end but soon as the milk was changed she was the most happy and content baby I’d ever seen… This took me a couple of weeks to get the doctors to understand that something was not right and even going to A&E with her from the constant constipation and not passing stools for almost 2 weeks at a time. Maybe worth asking your doctors to speak with a paediatrician like I did to see what they suggest. Or I know it’s expensive but you can buy allergy and dairy free milk from most shops but see how baby gets on after a few days. Then go back to the doctors and tell them you want it sorting if baby changes after trying new milk x

@Sophie Atkinson I’ve been to the hospital and drs constant because I thought it was this from the start but it’s like everytime I go they make out it’s reflux or that it’s normal , it’s like they try fob me off because I’m a young mum , I’ve got a dietician ringing me next week so hopefully it will get sorted, I just feel like I’m trying everything and nothing is working at all xx

My daughter is the same way. At 9& 11pm she is screaming in pain. She’s 2months tomorrow. I’m taking fiber now everyday to pass through breastfeeding. You could probably do the same in her bottles instead of laxatives. 💞

It’s been helping! Along with bicycle leg movements and pushing her legs into tummy! 💞

Mine was like this and I changed him to hipp milk and he’s like a new baby! So calm, relaxed and happy.. we went through aptamil and sma first!
