I would never expect to use their facilities without playing there first. It's kind of rude really.
I think it’s quite common for businesses only to allow paying customers to use their facilities.
I wouldn’t expect to be able to use toilet facilities somewhere that I hadn’t paid to get in. I’ve just done nappy changes in the pushchair or car boot where needed if I haven’t had baby change facilities I could use nearby.
I can understand businesses wanting to keep toilets for paying customers but changing a baby's nappy is not the same thing to me I'd be kind of annoyed as well
I had this issue once but it was a cafe in a big park. U needed a key for the baby changing room. They wudnt give it to me cos we hadn't eaten there tho we walked the grounds. They had tables outside so I just changed him on the table! It was summer so warm and I had a changing mat. People were eating on tables around us but didn't seem bothered. I did feel bad but my child comes first. Plus he use to get rashes a lot over summer so I has to change him more.
I just change the baby in the backseat of the car
I don’t think they deserve a bad review. It’s a business, not a public restroom. What if literally every single person was coming to use the restrooms without actually using the facilities. They still have to upkeep clean empty the bins sanitise the family rooms. Yes it seems unkind but in the grand scheme of things if they make one exception they’d have to make more.
Fair enough, I would have been a paying customer one day. I was just holding a baby with a blowout and desperate. I thought it would be a safe space as it was for kids. 🤷♀️
In this situation, it would have been nice of them to be understanding and help you out
@Colette just been in my own bubble for a minute and forgot everything is about money 😮💨
write them a proper rude google review. softplay tend to be capitalist money making enterprises and are a bit like anywhere else being ‘customers only’ unlike children’s centres or libraries which are public services
