@Katie have you tried giving him a toy while in the car seat? Seems to distract our girl sometimes from crying. But to be honest I don't let the crying stop me going places. So I go to 2 baby classes a week. An hour walk each day. Then most of the time she is just on the floor, either with me singing or just independent play. I try not to use the bouncer as I want her building her muscles for rolling etc :)
Every morning after breakfast he has play time on his back and tummy then after his brunch it's time for our walk then home for his then my lunch. Afternoons are baby groups except sat, sun and mondays, so mondays we do the food shop and the weekend is for family time and cleaning.
@Emmo yeah tried toys. Music. Everything. He’s gotta be in the right mood to just go to sleep. If I go in my own I have to stop the car about 3 times to put his dummy in. Then he will hopefully sleep. The thing is he screams that much he makes himself sick. Luckily the baby class I go to is around the corner so I just walk. I’ve just ordered a new car seat so hoping that helps
@Emmo can I ask when your little one is on the floor, is she mainly on her back? My guy prefers the mat to the bouncer for sure but I can’t get him into tummy time at all. I try not to have him on his back for too long if I can help it x
@courtney I guess maybe 75% on her back 25% on her front, I roll her between the two, there's nothing wrong with spending a long time on their back, they learn to build their muscles moving around, which they won't in the bouncer.
@Katie I could have written this myself. My daughter is the same and my life feels so small right now, especially with family living far away. Sending you lots of love. I haven’t found a solution by any means, if she kicks off then there’s nothing that helps except getting her out but this has helped with initially keeping her calm on a few short journeys. I’ve just zip tied it to the head rest; https://www.johnlewis.com/baby-einstein-sea-dreams-soother-crib-toy/p112566995?srsltid=AfmBOooiyIAa7xCyT9-EuCZj1yjvA7AIavb08F9hNRHWJ9RgLNfPfeb_XAc
@Emmo ok amazing thank you that’s really helpful. We are getting a totter and tumble mat for downstairs so he can move about more. I feel like I’m so excited for him to start rolling and moving about and I know once he can crawl I’ll miss the ease of him being standstill haha x
@courtney our lives are much easier now they can't move, but then it will be more fun 🤣
We have a dog so we do a morning woodland dog walk each day and usually try and meet up with a friend/family or attend a group at least 2-3 times a week and then make sure I have a couple days of staying home and focusing on tummy time and independent play so I can do a big clean. Sometimes her favourite activity is to sit and watch me do the laundry so I involve her and show her each item of clothing and tell her who’s it is and what it is e.g “mummy’s leggings these had to be washed after one wear because you threw up over them” 😂
Ours varies each week to be honest, we go to Hartbeeps (baby sensory) on a Monday which I can’t recommend highly enough. We meet up with friends for coffee / breakfast / walks. If we’re at home we do reading books, playing on his playmat / tummy time, black & white flash cards, singing & in his bouncer if I’m doing house bits / showering.
I’m also struggling with this I go for a walk every morning around a hour after his feed and that’s where he has his first and best nap of the day. I try and stay out for a hour at least. I struggle to go out other than this morning walk as he hates the car and I can’t go anywhere on my own with him as he’s that bad I do a little of tummy time. He’s in his bouncer while I do stuff around the house. I sing around with him. I do feel I need to do more but just don’t know what haha x
