Fussy

baby just hit 4 weeks and he has been incredibly fussy the past few days 🫣 we saw the gp last week for silent reflux, confirmed that he was indeed suffering from it and was advised to add carobel to his feeds. Nothing seems to be working. It now seems like he is also struggling with wind despite farting like a trooper and us constantly trying to burp him. He does this awful cry after coming off the bottle, I’ll go to burp him but he’s so hysteric his body tenses up completely, not that a burp does much to help. I’ve been rocking him to settle him, a bath works wonders and he goes to the boob to soothe himself too but he just seems in such pain otherwise and is barely sleeping unless he’s on me. I have no idea what it could be?? Is it colic?

unfortunately i think it’s just a pretty normal stage for them to be super fussy from 3-8 weeks. my son is 10 weeks now and rarely ever cries! he got better around 7-8 weeks but he was also diagnosed with reflux and prescribed pepcid. i also gave him gas drops after every feed and a probiotic every day. hang in there! it gets better

I know you’re probably already doing this but on the chance you’re not I would keep my LO upright for half an hour after feeds and food she did a few really good burps if we really straightened her back out when burping and just sort of rubbed from the bottom of her back to the top and they seemed to just start flowing out! I would try gas drops as well I found giving them about 10 minutes before feeding made them work most effectively but unfortunately your LO may just be going through a really fussy period as well has having reflux I had this my daughter from 4 weeks until around 10 - lots and lots of crying for hours every evening and generally unsettled it was a really difficult time but then basically settled down overnight x

My little one is 7 weeks old and suffers with colic and reflux. She is stubborn and refused to drink the milk with carobel in it so she is now on gaviscon. We also sit her up for 20-30 mins after a feed and that seems to help too. The colic we give her gripe water which seems to help. Someone mentioned dentanox for colic but again she’s stubborn, didn’t like it so refused to drink it. As someone has already said, between 2-10 weeks they are more fussier and needier. But you are doing a great job mum x
