Slightly different I had a section and I’m 2 week pp Last week the midwife said I could have a bath just not a long one
Thanks ladies! I am going to run that bath! 😂😬❤️
I have a similar question ; how long do we not use soap down there for? After my stitches they said don’t use soap down there but didn’t say how long for. Deffo needs a good clean down there lol 😬
My midwife encouraged to me to have a bath as soon as I got home with a first degree tear x
I had 2nd degree, verging on 3rd. Complex stitches and honestly Baths were an absolute godsend the first 2 weeks. I bathed daily, just warm water and the soak for bits by expert midwife. The warm water was an incredible relief. Even if it was for 10 minutes. I'm 3 weeks past now and not using soap directly there and still no bubble bath etc in a bath.
@Elle I was told 10 days after my stitches as that's when they should have dissolved by x
Also, you can use lavender oil in the bath, it's really good for healing x
How long do the take to dissolve ? Mine are still there and had the baby on the 25th?!
@Emily same my baby was born 25 Oct. Stitches still very much there ! I think she said 3-4 weeks to disolve but can’t remember for sure
@Elle I feel like it’s healed just need the stitch removed 😆
I was told 10 days and I'm pretty sure mine had gone by then? I had baby on the 6th Oct though so they are definitely gone now x
I was told no baths but wasn’t told for how long. One of the midwives said it could soften the stitches earlier than intended. I had one stitch/thread come off on some tissue when I was patting dry, did anyone else have this?
I had a 2nd degree tear & grazes with my little girl and I had to have a bath earlier than a week PP as I don’t have a shower fitted in my property and it’s healed fine. I just used plain water, no soap directly on the area (midwives said a bit of soap going in the water from washing hair body etc would be fine) with a tiny bit of original dettol x
@Maneek I have lost a stitch too I noticed on maternity pad.

@Maneek I was told this was normal. It's just part of them coming away as it heals and they disolve. I was told I might see bits of stitch but not to worry about it.
I would add that I actually spoke to my midwife about my baths because and she actually recommended them because it relaxes everything prior to using the toilet if needed because I was tensing a lot down there due to the pain
@Bethan thank you - I’ve had more on my tissue since so good to know it’s normal
Update: I deffo felt my stitches yesterday or the day before but today they’re definitely gone! Can’t see or feel any. Mine were 3 weeks ago exactly
I had 3 2nd degree tears and had loads of stitches, I was told I could bath/shower as often as I like as long as I don’t use any soap! I had a shower the same day and a bath the day after x
