Arts and messy group

Hi there I’m thinking of starting up a messy play/creative toddler/baby class in my local area I’m just after opinions/feedback to see what people think - what kind of thing would you expect from this kind of class (I’m thinking arty bits, sensory play etc) - How long would you expect the class to be (45mins is my thoughts) - What would you expect to pay - Any other thoughts would be amazing Thank you for any input I’m so grateful, never done anything like this but I’m in love with the idea and want to see if it would work

I go a baby class that's held once a week for an hour, that do all sorts including messy play, and it's free 🙂 if you want to do sensory play Amazon have bundles for a great price. I paid £7 for a 28 piece sensory play set, and honestly I'd have happily paid more for it with how much is there and how much my baby loves it all. I haven't got any other suggestions unfortunately. Still trying to work out more things to do with my 4 month old other than the weekly playgroup, sensory play at home, and the sensory room at the place our playgroup is held xx

We have been for a few classes when I was still in maternity leave. For price I think it varies so much you are best to check local and go for somewhere in the middle, maybe group 5 classes pay for 4 or similar, to attract regulars. If you pair the experience with hot drinks and cake for the adults I bet there will be more interest. Many places I have been had a keepsake, something simple like a station for handmade christmas cards with baby's foot print. As for what to expect honestly Pinterest has so much in terms of ideas on a low budget. Not sure how it works with insurance etc, but almost anything can be colored with baking dye - rice, oats, water etc. Just search Baby and toddler sensory diy or something similar. No longer than an hour. And if you can have sessions at slightly different times it will mean parents can plan easier around naps, the main reason I skipped some of the ones around me was they were bang on at babys nap time. And nap times are precious as we know. Good luck x

@Villy very true! I was going to go to a baby class yesterday but decided not to last minute because the class starts for 9:30 but thanks to my little one getting up later than usual, (not complaining lol 🤣) he didn't want a morning nap until 9, and normally he goes for his morning nap around 8

We do a mini makers class. It’s operated by a CIC and gets funding from various sources as well as the class ‘costs’. It’s £3.50 which I don’t think would be viable from a business perspective given they have two staff, a venue and all materials for an hour.

Wow these classes are cheap!! I pay £2 to go to a church run playgroup and we get a drink and snack, but actual classes I pay £7.95 for Little City, £9.50 for Hartbeeps and £12 for baby yoga. They’re usually 45-60 minutes, I think Little City is 90 minutes but that’s very much self led play for toddlers. 45 minutes is perfect for babies. My eldest loves messy play and being able to bring a piece of artwork home. I’ve been wondering about starting something similar where I live, such a lovely idea!
