How do you give it to her? Once it's mixed with the water you can add it to her milk but make sure it's mixed correctly with the water first. Have you tried some tummy massage and leg movements?

Yes I have tried tummy massage but won’t the taste put her off the milk?

She hates the taste and spits it all back up

Maybe try just 10-20ml at a time in the bottle rather than the whole thing. How many sachets is she having?

She only has 1 sachet but been told by doctors to give it in morning lunch and dinner but worried that’s too much for her? It seems to be giving her tummy ache xx

So she's having 21ml 3 times a day? I would deffo try adding to her milk. You can even work up to the full amount over a few days. If she's been constipated for a while having everything blocked up and start moving is going to make her feel uncomfortable but she'll feel much better once it's all moving.

The Eric website is super helpful with constipation https://eric.org.uk/childrens-bowels/baby-and-toddler-poo/

Would Lactulose not work?

My girl is 7 weeks and is using lactulose. She has 1ml everyday and it helps keep things moving. She has it as she is on thickened formula and it makes her horrendously constipated.

They didn’t offer me lactulose all they offered me was this stuff xx

Go and buy lactulose if they won’t offer it to you, that should always be the first port of call for constipation before cosmocol. How long does she go between poos and are they solid or loose when she eventually does go? Did you try giving just cool boiled water 2oz throughout the day everyday on its own, this is what really helped my LB with his constipation x

They are solid and every 2-3 days she goes for a poo

@Elenamacrogols such as cosmocol are the first line treatment for constipation and then lactulose if it's not tolerated. Lactulose has to be digested and broken down to draw out the water to hve an effect whereas movicol makes poos softer by absorption. I would try a full week of the meds you've been given. Warm baths every evening with a nice tummy massage (always clockwise) with leg cycling and circling.

Thankyou so much!!

My little one has been up all night with tummy pains from this stuff is this normal?

Both my lgs have this, I mix it with their milk, sometimes it has a taste of orange but the ones she's had recently were not.
